Is there a way you can turn off all the AI's and just play yourself?

what do you mean?
you should be able to turn on sandbox mode and play that without any foes.

do you mean switch sides while you're playing as well?
setfocusarmy 0 will put you on team 0, 1 on team 1 etc etc...

Yes. Let's suppose I do a skirmish where there is an AEon, faction, UEF faction, and cybran faction. I wish to play all three sides at once. No AI's involved. How do I make that happen?

so you could just have an ACU but no pilot for your enemies, and then constantly jump back and forth with setFocusArmy. an empty AI should be really easy for Sorian or Duncane to make.
actually, this could be quite useful, particularly with Adv. Co-op.

I think what we need is to change the code a bit.
When we go into skirmish mode, FA automatically makes one of the sides a human and then allows you to choose the AI's for the other sides.
Does anyone know where this code is located? If we can change the code to make all sides humans, or to allow you to select human as the AI for each side, then we would be abkle t control all sides of the skirmish.
So, does anyone know where the code is located that allows one to choose ai for each side? I have been looking but have no luck

Use sandbox mode, allow cheat, then start a game with yourself only. Use alt-f2 to spawn the unit you want, it could be any unit in any faction. The only problem is that you only have one color to play with except civilians.
If you want to have multiple sides in the game but without any AI, I believe there's a way to turn off the AI at the console, but I don't remember the name of that command. You could just start a game and turn off the all AI, then use setfocusarmy or debugaltclick to control all sides.

Okay, turning off the ai using alt-A did not work. I was in sandbox mode and had cheats on.
So, we need to locate the code that assigns ai's to sides in skirmish mode. Then somehow add code that would allow user to choose human for each side.
any suggestion on where this code might be located?

Do a sandbox with the sides you want, destroy each enemy ACU and all stuctures using cheats, and disable the AI, spawn a ACU for each side.
That should work. For some weird reason you have to disable the AI before a ACU spawns witch is why you have to destroy the ACU then disable the AI.

Hmmm its probably really easy to make a Null AI that does nothing except spawn the commander.... saves all the messing around with destroying units...
I will take a look later today if I get a chance...

Could you make an AI like that? I tried destroying all the enemy stuff, turning off ai, and then giving them another ACU, but once I started to build troops, the AI took control of the troops and started moving them on a set path (to my base).

Okay here it is... NullAI :
http://members.iinet.net.au/~dionysus/misc/NullAI.zip
Just place the 01_aisupport.scd and 02_NullAI.scd files in the gamedata folder then select NullAI in the lobby for each position you want to do.. well nothing.
Havent really tested it much but seems to work. Let me know of any issues.
mikecoon, if your still around could you add a NullAI reference to the topic so people can find it easier?
Cheers
