No, I give you the reason why I don't make a single packed zip file.

We have limited resources, and the priority goes to the FAF users, using the vault inside the lobby.

why must you always, always, keep making posts like this and begging for a treat?

@Ze- Althought i understand your position, is it possible that at some point you guys can get some sort of like "Most popular map pack" download? I just think that something like that would be nice even for those that do not use FAF all the time, now that GPGNet is down, or better yet maybe such a thing can go on reddev's vault at a later time, dunno just a thought

Yeah, kind of like a weekly-updated "top 10" list of maps?

Of the the mirror can propose a map pack, but we won't do it for now.

They will be online once I've sorted the technical issues (mainly, immediate syncing of new maps).

I dont know if it would be of any help, because I dont have the time to make any sort of vault/mirror/page thing.

But I could fix up a quick ftp site, where you can dump anything FAF related, and link to it. Sort of like ftp://dump.faforever.com/mappack.zip or similar.

FAF admins could have write/delete access and public read access.

Bandwidth is not an issue for me at all, and this way I could offload the faf server ?

How many maps do non-online gamers want. http://viking.gurut.org//Maps.rar has 1000's. There are other repositories around and pretty sure every map worth having is in one of those repositories.

I've also established a mirror after getting a vault archive from GPG. Took a few hours to write up a script to clean up the directory listing (took about a day for the extraction, zipping, manual checks) but I have each individual map and mod (zipped individually) available for download at: http://gpgnet-vault.bathnet.org/

I also have a grab all maps/mods links at the root directory for those who want to just grab them all in swoop.
http://gpgnet-vault.bathnet.org/all-maps.zip
http://gpgnet-vault.bathnet.org/all-mods.zip

If reddev32 or anyone on the gpg team wants to see my script, you can simply go here: http://pastebin.com/e4i0uRAZ

If/When a more unified method of providing the mirror is available, I'll start re-organizing my mirror to help prevent confusion.

The directories inside your zip are all wrong.
ie. Viking_field should be Vikings_field.v0001.

Would be better if you make a mirror of the FAF ones (all is correct there).

I unfortantly never had access to the GPGnet program so I had no clue on how it extracted the folders. I simply extracted the vault archive into the same name as the directory it was held in. Some directories had to be renamed though due to using invalid characters in their names such as "/" which caused unexpected directory splitting.

The actual archive handed to me by gpg was a real mess as reddev mentioned. Once a unified method is released, I can easily follow that, the original archive is still sitting there and I can easily change my scripts. Just might take a day to actually do the processing.

Sadly my script is very tied to FAF (because it create map previews, big map previews, fill a DB, ...), but you need to parse the lua script to get the right folder name.

Or you can just become a FAF vault mirror, and I send you the whole thing by FTP (I just need you to set a sync setup for new submitted maps).

Pilot if u cna write a cron script that can be exed once a day that would be great as it would run and suit thi site epicly

An interesting note, some maps in the archive appear to have conflicting map info. Map 100 for example claims it goes "/maps/100.v0001/100.scmap" while map 107FA also claims "/maps/100.v0001/100.scmap". In fact, 100, 108FAV, 110FAV, 105 and 107FA claim to be "/maps/100.v0001/100.scmap".

I'm curious to how the original vault application would handle this. Did it simply overwrite the last "/maps/100.v0001/100.scmap" with the next one being downloaded?

NO if it been versionised it got the .00001 added to it so the next map version of the map would be .00002

To be clear, I mean in the .vault files, 107FA claims in goes to '/maps/100.v0001/100.scmap'. If it is not extracted to that folder, it will not work in the game. If you had also downloaded map '100', which map variable also says '/maps/100.v0001/100.scmap', than you would have to choose which map you want to keep or edit one of their scenario.lua files to have them go to an unique directory.

I'm at a loss on what to do, while I can remake the maps into individual zips that have the map.v0001 format (using their own scenario.lua to determin that name), I cannot create an 'entire' maps zip file because some maps WOULD overwrite each other. I could create a zip file with all the individual zip files and let the user decide how the overwrite happens but I don't think that is desired.

If it is a matter to just correcting the "map=" variable to give each map a unique map.v0001 name and rename their folder to that than that shouldn't be a problem other than how to do that uniformly accross all gpgnet-vault mirrors.

Edit: I've compiled a list of maps that conflict with another map because they have the same directory name. There are a total of 250 maps in the vault archive GPG gave to me.

i get what your saying its just u can't change the veriong of the map.

If you change the map horders folder you need to change the scenario to be the same as the holder folder otherwise it will fail epicly.

I'm not changing anything right now. This is how it comes out of the vault files in the archive. Actually, to be more percise, it comes out without a folder structure which makes it fail when you tried to load it. That's why I'm reading the map= variable to determin what folder the map is supposed to go. However as I point out, 250 maps would essentially overwrite each other in this case. Aka, if I extract "107FA" and put it where the map= variable says (where it HAS to go to work), if I have "100" installed, "107FA" would overwrite it since they both claim their map is "map/100.v0001/100.scmap" and both claim to be map_version=1.

What I'm asking at this point is if there is a uniform way on fixing this issue? I simply don't want to start renaming/removing duplicate maps at this point if there will be a solution from GPG on this.

No it was all done via the vault if u have muti version u have to change "map/100.v0002/" is how the vault extracted them when downloaded

Did it also perform the change in the scenario.lua file? Just changing the folder name won't help unless the scenario file is edited to account for the folder name change.

Well take a look for your self:
http://gpgnet-vault.bathnet.org/maps/100.zip
http://gpgnet-vault.bathnet.org/maps/107FAV.zip

I have not modified the files in any way; the only change is the folder they extract to.

If the vault program did rename these, what kept me from downloading 107 first and having 100 rename while someone downloaded 100 first and having 107 renamed causing us to have mismatching files? Was the rename done on the vault server level? If it was, why is it not reflected in the archive we recieved?

If there the same map the person who has uploaded to the vault has messed it up big time.
To get round this keep the "100" the same.
Change the following in "107fav"
Change the root folder to 107fav,
in the 100_scenario.lua (open in notepad) and change the following,
map="/maps/100.v0001/100.scmap", to map="/maps/107fav.v0001/107fav.scmap",
