How old is that? It does a bit like Space Siege.

I posted the same thing on the KnC forums, to which sorian responded by saying "Shhhhh ", so I figure there might be something to it.

I saw Sorian's comment too. He's not above light-hearted trollery.
If they ad. was thrown up only two months ago, then there'd definitely be something to it.

What the hell even happened to KnC? It was looking great and had all this publicity, then just vanished off the face of the earth for AoE Online?

Looks like we got CT'd yeah but CT usually atleast waits until his game has been released before he abandons it completely.

It was begging for some DLC but GPG just moved on. This could also largely be Stardocks fault, so I shouldn't put all the blame on GPG.

imo if they used steam instead of impuse demigod probably would have lasted longer.

When Microsoft comes to you and asks you to finish thier game, do you say "Sorry, We're already busy working on this other game without a publisher and/or outside investment, try us again in a year or 2." Hint: That's not what you say. Mike

Hint: That's not what you say. Mike Well I'm not going to challenge that, but it doesn't change the fact that KnC has been basically abandoned. GPG dropped it and shifted focused on AoE, and now it looks like they're working on a completely different game. Seems like KnC is pretty much gone now.

I doubt that. GPG still paid for all that dev time on KnC and they won't throw it away for nothing. I find it more likely that it's just an out of date job listing.

I agree that GPG is unlikely to just throw KnC away, but out of date job listing? Wishful thinking if you ask me. I mean how old is space siege really?

Hmmm, im inclined to disagree. KnC might get finished one day. But from what i can tell, GPG aren't in a great position financially, and just can't afford to develop KnC. I really hope they pick it up again, as it looked really promising, but i can't see it happening.

As it is now 2012, I find it doubtful that GPG would have kept an out of date job listing on their site for 4 years, especially since having a job listing on their would encourage people to apply for that position, and sooner or later the HR people would tell their web site administrators to take down the listing so they don't have to deal with all the applications for a job they have no intention of filling. Here is the full job listing. There are 5 other positions besides this that are being adverstised, but this one is the only one that mentions an "unnanounced 3rd person action/adventure title". http://www.gaspowered.com/jobs/#detailsGPG website wrote: SENIOR LEVEL DESIGNER Gas Powered Games is looking for an experienced senior level designer for an exciting unannounced 3rd person action/adventure title. The senior level designer will work closely with the design, art, production, and engineering teams to create great looking, fun levels that run at a solid frame rate. Please send samples of work (including one or more of the following: portfolio, screenshots, video, game save files) and a detailed description of what you did on each level along with your submission. Responsibilities: Creation and ownership of design documents that describe level flow and mechanics, grey box prototypes, and final polished 3d level block outs using in-house tools that heavily leverage terrain height maps. Proactively make improvements to created levels based on team suggestions and observing play sessions from design lead, QA, and fellow team members. Collaboratively develop ideas for game mechanics that emphasize thoughtful play. Mentor junior designers on best practices and techniques of level creation. Required: Minimum of 4 years industry experience and 1 shipped title, preferably in the 3rd person action/adventure genre. Experience in every part of the level design process from planning/documentation to white box/prototype to shipping level. Solid understanding of the pacing and flow for an action game that includes light combat, puzzles, and exploration. Willingness to share ownership of a level with fellow designers and artists. Ability to focus and work well under deadlines and internal/external design direction. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Desired: Experience with terrain sculpting and height map manipulation design tools. Experience designing levels where the player has a lot of freedom to manipulate the gameplay space (destruction, construction, modification). Background in programming or game scripting in languages such as LUA, Python, or C#. Console development experience. Experience creating levels on consoles in editors such as Halo: Forge, Little Big Planet, and FarCry 2.
