Since I hired an extra dude, does he get his own turn and action in addition to the move and action for my character? For example, he engages in combat while I run away screaming like a little girl.
If so, I instruct Geoff to head northwest towards the center of town and attack one of the roaming bison, in hopes of increasing his combat experience, while I attempt to sell my fish and extra pair of shoes on the dock.

Using my incredibly original mind, and unassisted by the opinion of anyone else, I decide I am going to rob the bank's vault! No one ever saw it coming!
Action: I carefully attempt to ROB THE BANK'S VAULT USING MY MAD LOCKPICK SKILLS!
Move: I stealthily move towards the vault door, like a stealthy person, who is capable of stealth. Because I'm a thief. A stealthy thief.

Hazza616 wrote: There's a few point which have been niggling me about this RTD. Firstly, its annoying the crap out of me that everytime you get a 6, you get what you want! Oh but not really, you've hurt yourself. IMO a 6 should be you get what you want, and its better than you thought/you get something extra/you earn some XP. Don't know if its just me that feels this way. Also i think the way XP is going this i gonna turn into a marathon 1000 page thread before anyone can do anything really awesome. What we can do should be determined by the dice and if you're a mage, maybe you get +1 on any magic rolls, keep it nice and simple. I don't want to criticise but i just think these points would make the game a bit more fun, i think you're doing a great job Plasma its just getting a bit complex. If its just me that feels like this then i'll STFU and play the game XD Also, shouldn't i be in the town right now? The 6 thing is bothering me a little... although I think the most inventive one so far has been the Torch Staff. Sure, I get infinity torch, but I never get to un-torch it. Also, little buffs and perks are involved--For example, again, I have a small chance to keep things. The previous RTD had a more systematic approach (straight modifiers every few levels). Furthermore, this is supposed to be a 1000-page smashfest. In the last one, it got incredibly long, and no one got to a very high level at all.

I'll get the nasty thing form 6-rolls removed. It's a bit silly.
I'll give a thought about the other points you guys made. I can do that right now but I should've been sleeping fore 10 minutes now so I'll get back to it when I've got the time.

Hazza stared at the map in the middle of town. Why on earth was the "you are here" marker pointing to clearing to the west? Oh well thought Hazza, I'm definetaly in the town now. Calling Toby along behind him, Hazza heads to the bank (move) and asks one of the bankers if there is any gold in his account.

I believe pheonixIV had it set up so that you only got overkill from a 7 - Making leveling up not always a good thing.

Strictly, the canonical rules of RTD are as Plasma has it - 1 to 6, where 6 is overkill. But I prefer Pheonix's system.

This was PheonixIV's system 0 - Epic Fail. You're probably dead, and you might have taken somone else with you. Only achievable with a penalty. 1 - Big Fail. That didn't work, and you just made things worse as well! 2 - Normal Fail. That didn't work, try again. 3 - Success! Just. 4 - Comfortable Success. You did what you wanted to and you learned a little bit in the process (+1 skillpoint). 5 - Great Success. Excellent! Not only did you succeed, but you did even better than you expected to! (+1 skillpoint) 6 - Incredible Success. You went above and beyond the call of duty and did something truely superhuman. The earth trembles at your approach. (+2 skillpoints) 7 - Epic Success. The laws of physics hold no power over you! The best possible outcome occurs, and you're loving it. (+2 skillpoints) Only achievable with a bonus. 8 - Overshot. Whoops, you went a wee bit too far. The result is definitely what you wanted to, but with some unintentional side-effects; like you targeted the enemy cultist and blew up the entire city. (+3 skillpoints) Only achievable with a big bonus. Now my question is, when did you roll an 8 there? My intention is to get you to roll 8 when you get something like a 6+3 (although it'll take some time before that happens). Something like this Hazza has an idea! (Oshit) Reasoning that the BFG's kickback is substantial, he points it at the ground and fires! That will slow his fall. (6+3) OVERSHOT! With a monsterous roar like a great demon crawling from the abyss, the BFG belches forth a fireball the size of a car, blowing Hazza straight up into the air and bouncing him off several walls before he finally ends up tangled in the remaining chandlier, Hazza has just enough time to notice DeadMG hiding in the corner of the chandlier with a little floaty orb when an earth-shaking explosion is heard and the very earth itself quakes with the explosive force of (6+3) OVERKILL! the entire floor of the main hall collapses downwards, partially vapourised by the gargantuan explosion. Poor flaming lewa has just enough time to look up and try and dodge the masses of falling rubble (1-3) but his fire-engulfed limbs cannot even react quickly enough to give him time to scream and within seconds Lewa is nothing more than a red smear buried under a thousand tons of rock. Gnats too is caught within the blast radius (4+2) but his magical darkleather imbues his body with inhuman speed, and like a character out of a bad martial arts movie he leaps from falling rubble piece to falling rubble plece, riding the wave of collapsing stone safely to the ground. Hazza and DeadMG look at each other and at the 600 foot drop down to piles of buried gold and wonder how the hell they're supposed to get down now.
On the upside, the treasure room is lit now.
Hazza has become a Competant Heavy Weapons Guy (2/7) The Mechanics Workshop has been destroyed! Lewa is DECEASED Also, everything with skillpoints is completely different because I had the idea of using classes (Oblivion) while Pheonix's brilliant idea was without (Skyrim) and the general skill system is a bit different. I don't want to remove that though (though I *can* add skill enhancement effects in the roll). Anyway. The downside with "6" will be removed and I'll think of a more proper way to describe the differences between 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and OVERSHOT/OVERKILL/OVERDODGE (don't ask me what the last one does if you stand beside a cliff). Besides, it's only a good thing to come with constructive things like these. I'm not really sure about what I'm doing (which in itself can be hilarious but it can also backfire). I think I've got time to work on the rolls again and add the money people owe me (or the village's mayor) for killing wild bison.

You can but there's a difference between getting stones you can see to different places, or getting someone's brain out of someone's skull.
The removal of brains triggers immediate death. The displacement of stones may not do so (yes if they come crashing at you with terminate velocity they do but that would require putting them a mile up in the air).
Besides, you did kill the bison.

So getting back to my earlier question, as Geoff is now accompanying me as my bodyguard, am I allowed to have him and myself both perform an action on a given turn? My action for Geoff was to have him move to the center of town and practice combat by killing bison, and my (Falcrack's) move was to stay at the dock and sell my wares (a pair of shoes and 3 small fish).

Yes, you can do that. Perfectly fine. Though, for companions you have completely different rules in terms of experience and, especially in your case, cost and maintenance.
Loot he finds goes to you though. So the 5 gold pieces will be yours when (if) he kills the bison.
In terms of death, he's just like another npc.
I'm just about doing your rolls btw.

Besides, you did kill the bison. Sure, but there's little difference between "I can see the stone" and "I can see the Bison's head", because, I mean, if you can see the head, you know where the brains are. And all I'm saying is, one small object is the same as another, just because I found a use of teleporting small objects that might actually defend me is no reason to give me a penalty

I understand, but I'm a bit reluctant to let you get to teleport the most important thing of something that's alive. Though the archers won't get a penalty from shooting arrows at a bison's brains either. Let me give it some thought on how I can do this.
You do realize that if you get better, that teleport thing can do pretty much what dark mages can summon, thieves can steal and and everyone else can break, right? That ought to get a bit of a higher experience curve, that was my thought. Though I can tone down the eventual result and remove the penalty here of course. I don't have much experience with the teleporting perks while keeping it fair for the others as well.
Isik, I also find out that you attempt to invent random stuff. That way you are getting random stuff. Think of it like how Orange-Knight summons things. take a look at your inventory (get your random stuff from that, I know it's now filled with things that are useful instead of standard wooden planks, but it's a bit like that)

Well, that's pretty much the thing. Teleporting someone's brains out isn't any more fatal than stabbing it's brains with a sword or shooting it's brains with an arrow, so I'm not really seeing the overpowered here.

in the case of brain teleporting, Willpower roll will determine if the brain can resist it!

I could also try teleporting your heart out Quote: Barring the lack of any kind of armor. Who says there isn't armour that gives magical resistances?
