@random legend. If Rock or any of his "merry bum bandits" insult you grab a screenshot or a replay and approach any of the moderators. This behavior will not be tolerated from anyone. FAF is sposed to be a cool place to chillaxe and I will do my utmost to make it like that. However in 5 years that I have known rock I have only ever seen him say something bad, it wasnt even insulting and that was to celticsoul after a barrage of abuse from celtic and that has only happened once.

Its very sad that GPG has gone, but the news isn't totally unexpected. Luckily for me I was trying the new Beta on FAF and have started adjusting to it.
Thanks GPG for getting me addicted to gaming once again, whilst im slightly older, fatter and worse of financially (Sup com ruins career's FACT!) it was an awesome ride.
Ive met some truly awesome people on GPG, I urge those with doubts about FAF to give it a go, yes Setons is not the same but these guys are putting lots of time and effort into keeping the game we love alive.
For that I applaud you.

I hope it will be online again for a while to get a screen capture of my profile. Anyway this was the best online game ever. Probably there won't be any better. Hmm.. no need for upgrading PC anymore. I was planning to buy an Ivy Bridge configuration to run survival faster.

@lancer199xteam. GPGNET may be gone but fa is far, far from dead. FAForver is keeping fa very much alive. Mods are being compiled and will soon be available to download from the lobby much the same way as gpgnet. On the 4th of March there were 305 players online at once on FAF.

I don't give a **** if Rock insults me. That's far from my issue. Him and his crew are just a horrific influence on the community as a whole and it's far too embedded for anything to ever be done about it. The people who could see it pretty much got fed up and left a long time ago. The one's who didn't just keep quiet because they know the hassle they will be caused if they don't. I've found I just can't do that. I'm not going to sit here naming names, but I have chatted to A LOT of people over the years who feel this way, including some still playing on FaF. It's whatever, I'm not bothered, I'm enjoying what I'm doing at the moment and while it might have been a bit of fun to give FA one last crack it's not going to happen. Good luck and have fun to all those who still are, and a big thank you to all those who I played great games against over the years. It was fantastic while it lasted.

I found here only one official statement...among other: At the moment things are up in the air as to whether or not the GPGnet matchmaking service will continue to be available in the future. Many of you are posting that GPGnet is gone and so on.
So you have some more official information on this?

I will say, no matter no what happens I think the GPGnet team have done an excellent job, despite being often let down by THQ and chastised by the community for their failings. I hope that GPGnet returns but if it does not I will always look back on the past five years from Vanilla beta to the (hopefully distant) final days of GPGnet with nothing but fondness & love.
Long live GPGnet!

Well, THQ didn't give any warnings so I guess when it won't come back they won't turn it on to get any things from there. :/ (Maybe only for GPG) But be optimism!! I am pretty sure that GPG can get - By the way, this really really really isn't the correct topic to talk after a couple of years about any players *....*.This is only a post to give us the information that the GPGnet server is down.I mean , they were able to lock it and post only any News. I don't want to read any things from don't know which year where any players don't like any other users because of something.

So you have some more official information on this? No. GPG found out about this last friday, and it was a complete suprise to them as it was for us. Weekend is passed now and GPG employees are going back to the office, so I'm sure we'll hear something more about this later this week when GPG has time to discuss it over. We just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope. Nothing much we really can do.

All this THQ hate and Speculation.
They hold 2 of the most successful PC franchises of all time.
Company of Heroes and Dawn of War.
Not only that but Relic(and thereby THQ) reacquired the rights to Homeworld and could produce a product that would sell excellently.
I like THQ as a publisher, they back alot of smaller games and companies and they typically put out good products.
It wasn't however THQ's fault that Supcom/FA dropped dead. You wouldn't flush money down your toilet and neither would they. Supcom was too system intensive to reach a wider market, they supported it for several months and backed an expansion and supported that for a few months.
On the other side of the spectrum, Company of Heroes is still going strong on a daily basis and THQ still supports that

Looks like we have a THQ flag flier here. The ONE and ONLY priaser. No, THQ failed us, GPG and FA. A couple MONTHS of support for a game. LOL That hardly warrents a mention. THQ has done nothing but slap this community in the face and kick us in the balls.
Thanks CT and gpgnet for all your epic-awesomeness; missing the good times already.

On the other side of the spectrum, Company of Heroes is still going strong on a daily basis and THQ still supports that Short: THQ cares only about the games which make MUCH MUCH money. The others (Which could be more awesome than the games which are maybe boring(but make money)) will be supported only a few months to let the delevopers fix the really uncool bugs. So, think about it a few minutes..you really like THQ??! I hope GPG won't do any cooperations anymore.

Totally gutted about GPG Net going down; logged in today and nothing happening. Can't believe the game I have played for over 5 years is now in the hands of enthusiasts only.
Thanks to GPG and THQ for all your efforts, sad that we can't keep GPG net going with a small monthly subscription.
Will try to give FAF a go....

Sincere apologies to our fans and customers for the complete lack of notice on this interruption of service, and for the lack of information we have been able to provide to this point. I go on vacation for 3 days and all hell breaks loose. Murphy really, really hates me.
As has been stated before, GPG was not notified that the service provided by our Quazal partners to run GPGNet was being terminated.
We are now investigating our options, and the only thing I can say for sure is GPGNet won't be back up this week, and that we have successfully contacted THQ, Quazal, and Square Enix about the options we have in front of us, and how they are willing to help.
As some have speculated, our worst case scenario is that we could be legally prevented from ever bringing GPGNet back in any form, since we don't technically own the IP (Square Enix), the backbone and data (Quazal), or the contract (THQ), but we are obviously doing everything we can to negotiate something better than that with what little leverage we have.
I will use this post to provide updates and progress as we receive them, but do not want to miss an opportunity to thank the legions of fans, modders, volunteer moderators, admins, and tournament directors who have poured years of their life into making GPGNet a place that so many could call home. The game and matchmaking was something good, but the community was something amazing.
I hope you will all continue using these forums (GPG owns them, you can pry them from our cold, dead hands!) to keep on top of friendships and projects that are important to us as we proceed with the investigation.
