In my opinion, there is neither surprise nor sadness in this announcement. Supreme Commander is an old game and there is no reason for GPG to continue to expend money on GPGNet when they can get Valve or FAF to do it for them.

GPGnet Died years ago, its good they are finally laying it to rest.

CT if you make a new SC please learn from your many past mis-steps and make sure consistent Support is in the Devs contract.

GG, Off to FAFFAFAFAFFA

The forum won't go offline.

The gpgnet server was sponsored by THQ and not gpg.

Well said. We believe there are still a few good years left in it, though, at least until a worth successor comes.

Like Voodoo wrote,THQ spent the money into the GPGnet Server and since THQ had some huge problems it wasn't really a surprise.(Well I was shocked and so on too :P )

What we can do now is hope and wait until GPG have new News.

Regards fellow ex-halcyoners,

I really don't see GPGNet going down as a shame or even a problem, GPG has created something unique and it will live on and on, there is nothing to be ashamed of, they can be proud of what they have done.
Our method of playing FA will not be any different either, from now on you don't log in to GPGNet, but in to FAF, you profit from the support and stability FAF provides you, how is that a matter?

Anyway, my friends and I had a really great time on GPGNet, and we wish you all the best.

Will there be a way to recover the mods and maps uploaded to the Vault? It would be a shame for the Vault-only mods to go away.

Business is business, and if it is no longer financially viable to maintain GPGNet, I can't complain about that.

We can recover most of our maps with all our Mappacks
and maybe we can collect all the mods from the whole community.

Ah, sad news... Nostalgy made me look up my old login and password.

Thanks for the best RTS I've ever played...

And Hi to all the old timers still hanging around this place!

I'm crossing my fingers, hoping we'll all get to enjoy a great Supcom3 sometime soon.

dam i miss gpg... I've only had FA and SC since january 2011... Guess this is the end of the road for my times in supcom unless i play by myself, play the xbox version, or figure out what is causing those fatal errors whenever i try to launch FA through FAF...

but on the good side u may still see me in FAF, but for now i guess im done with FA...

Thanks for makin such an awesome game, hopefully we may get lucky and they will make a supcom3 and or bring GPGNet backup, but for now all we can do is wait... :(

Try your install code in steam first - it could allow you to download a copy.
I activated using an old code from the back of the Forged Alliance DVD box and it activated Vanilla Sup Com as well as FA. There is not much in the Steam lobby compared to GPGnet, but you can still find friends and play skirmish.

:?

Why? For the 12 people who preferred Vanilla to FA?

Well I guess I'm boycotting Gas Powered Games and THQ from now on, since they don't support their products.
