Hello All,
As of yesterday all GPGnet services have been suspended. At the moment things are up in the air as to whether or not the GPGnet matchmaking service will continue to be available in the future. This is all the info we have at the moment, we hope to have more news for all of our customers in the near future and we will update you as soon as we know more.
Everyone at Gas Powered Games would like to thank you all for your past, current, and future support and we sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.

Sad times for the MP community. We're all watching with baited breath for good news.

I am not sure what to say. I think thank you for making the best RTS is appropriate.
However I hope GPG continues to support Forged allaince. This is an amazing game just needs a little love now that computers can handle the game better.
I should add that this is an amazing multiplayer game. With some attention to, 1v1 and team, ranked play this could easily be a top multiplayer game in my opinion. It is unique fast paced and complex.
Regards,
Cheva

I would like to recommend, to everybody who enjoys playing Forged Alliance, to visit www.FAForever.com. Forged Alliance Forever is a community-based client, like GPGnet. To download and try it, see the "Downloads" section of www.FAForever.com.

Wow, I can tell you me and my friends would have gladly paid subscription fees to continue online play... Really disappointed...

I am also very disappointing this would just randomly happen without warning...

I think the warning was there - a release of vanilla and FA on Steam, and the patching of all other digital distributed copies (from Impulse, for example) to that Steam version.
While that implies the end of GPGnet was planned and deliberate, it also means that someone had the foresight to consider the community and accommodate the need for a replacement MP system.

This is sad indeed, makes it a little harder to play. I really hope this can be resolved even if a subscription is required to continue. However our options appear to be: (so far as I am aware) Play on Steam, play on FAF and play on Gameranger. http://www.gameranger.comI had a go on Gameranger and it appears to play OK for Vanilla Sup Com.

Ah come on, even if FAF is there, GPGnet was a better platform for this game. Please make it come back

GG when gpg say "At the moment things are up in the air as to whether or not the GPGnet matchmaking service will continue to be available in the future." this means sup com or fa will never be up again on gpg. Thats what this company and chris taylor have taught me over the last 5 years. I'd also like to thank faf for splitting the community and giving gpg a great excuse to stop supporting this game in any way.... FA is finally really dead and buried. wahhh i want to cry. I hope I'm wrong but deep down i somehow know its true.

That means FAF is no longer a community splitter, but a community saver? Hope we can get out of beta soon, a new update is planned for this weekend.

Nope faf is the community splitter, as few as they may be no new players will ever work it out... its now a matter of diminishing returns as players leave they will now 100% not be replaced.... Game over FAF i give you 12 months before there's no point in supporting that either. Sorry but this has just neg'd me out.

If you're going to harp on about FAF, please do it in the actual FAF thread. Any more posts about it, and I'll start reporting. kthxbai.

kthxbai. No, FAF should definitely mentioned here, because if GPGnet does indeed go down, FAF is the way to go in the future. Nothing wrong about that.

Guy aurguing about this and that wont bring anything back . Fact is Chris Taylors company has once again failed its loyal Followers TA went in exactly the same way as did Kingdoms, and now SupCom, FA, Space siege , supcom2, Demigods. They always say its not GPG its the publisher that does not want to support any more but i say learn from your mistakes and don't sell out to a publisher without guarantees the blame for this lies with GPG and before that Cavedog all run BY CT. Chris you make by far the best RTS games but you don't support them example Starcrap has a massive following because they continued to support it even though its inferior to Supcom but you let yourself down with the way you support games you make the best now you have killed the best RTS ever thank you CT. I would gladly have paid a small monthly subscription to keep getting patches and upgrades but sadly this will never happen now even with supcom2.
What everybody needs to do now is get behind FAF i never went on FAF till this happened and to be fair I am quite impressed with it its quite good try it out. Stop bitching about split community and unify IF FAF goes too then its goodbye to everything .

Well, its been a good ride folks with ups and downs and dramas. Was a cool place to idle even if you weren't playing. Its served us well for, what 5 years?, its just time to move on and say goodbye. It was good that they paid for the servers as long as they did, long after sales and revenue from supcom/fa dried up.
Cya on the flipside at FAForever.
Would like to say thanks to the GPG staff that helped over the years, Servo in particular... Good on ya...

Actually, am really glad that I tried out FAF 3 days ago... I played a while over Steam, then heard about FAF and was skeptical for a while. I was told that they did not only change the balancing but also included new units and all that, but non of it is true, except the bugfixing and balance changes. Am super happy that something like FAF exists...the changes made so far are awesome...more people need to know about that... Yesterday, there were more people online using FAF, than there were on GPGNET for a long long time, felt like in the good old days. Thx for all the modders out there working on FAF.
