This just started occurring over the last 36 hours. (Approximately)

I go into a SupCom2 lobby and my ping to everyone spikes, or even remains at, 800 - 2,000 to everyone.

However, running network diagnostics from my host shows excellent ping times and good traceroutes to various locations on the internet, including the east coast and Europe.

In fact, just to test, I did some network connectivity tests WHILE SupCom2 was having issues, and everything else came out fine.

What causes this? Is there some sort of Steam geographic issue? I recently moved from IL to CA, but made sure to update that in my Steam profile. (I think it was server or downloads or something - whatever tells it where to snarf downloads from.)

The odd part was that for the first 24 hours, the high in lobby did not translate to in-game. Now they do, however, and games are unplayable.

Any ideas of things to check into?

If you're having Tech issues with Supreme Commadner 2, I suggest posting in teh Appropriate Tech support Forum.

Thread Moved.

No responses in this thread, and I'm still having the issue. Where's the next best spot to go? All other network functionality on my system is pristine.

After moving my request for tech support, the post has got a whopping 40 views and 0 responses. I'm still having the issue. Any suggestions on who to contact? The game is still unplayable for me due to this issue. All other network functionality on my system is in pristine working order.

If anyone has any thoughts, they would be appreciated.

[EDIT:] Please have the courtesy and good sense to leave this post in place, as moving it to the tech support forum obviously accomplished nothing. Perhaps the experienced players here will have useful thoughts. Also, it's not like there's a lot of noise on this forum these days. Thanks.

Please have courtesy and not create multiple threads for the same issue. Moved and merged with original thread.

Darrath - thanks for being completely useless. Did you not READ my post?

I already posted here - that yielded no results. It's not like there's a ridiculous amount of noise on the main forums. Please use your head in this situation - I'm one of the few people working their tail off to keep this community alive, and I can't do that if I can't play the game. And I can't get the bug fixed if no one sees the request.

Please return my post to the main SupCom2 forum that actually GETS visibility.

Also, instead of being a hinderance to solving the problem, why don't you suggest where I can go to next for technical support on an extremely problematic bug?

People that would want to help you or might know the solution would be reading the tech support forum. If you want more visibility post on the steam forums.

Good idea - will do. Thanks.

P.S. Can you remind me, at what point in the lifetime of a SupCom2 multi-player game does Steam stop being involved? In other words, is Steam involved in handling the networking backend for the lobbies? Or does Steam just launch the game and then let SupCom2 do the rest?

If it works like GPGnet did for the first SupCom then it simply launches SupCom using specific command line arguments but I'm not sure if that is indeed the case here.
