Its a combination of both to be honest.

GPG's basic Buff code is bugged in that there is no "getregen" command so no way to get the existing regen, add to it, and then "setregen" the new value. So GPG's existing regen buffs basically overwrite the previous regen buffs. Its been known for a long time and is part of the complaints people had about the large boost regen upgrades being overwritten when a unit gets a vet buff.

However GAZ UI's display for regen is also coded to only look at the BP value for the last upgrade installed. Not sure why they coded it that way but its something I've known about since day one of my ACU mod. Mainly because I use GAZ UI :P

Maybe they coded it that way because of the way GPG's buff system works?

And if you ever feel up to it, wanna poke through my Buff System Fix code? I thought I fixed it....

Any idea why it is behaving the way it is then?

It works for me I am guessing its an issue on your end. You may need to go to the score screen at the end of a game to make it save. If you just quit that could be the issue. I recall something along those lines causing issues with save games at one point, but I could be wrong.

i always go through the score screen, but do FA and the replay folder need to be on the same drive? b/c i have FA on my data drive and the replay folder is in my docs on C drive.

It should just copy your replay and rename it accordingly.
Might be worth a try to start with a freshly created profile and see if that works.
If it does you might just have the replay saver disabled somehow.

FA being on another drive than the replay folder will not interfere with replay saving.

I realize this thread isn't real active nowadays, but I wanted to throw this out.

I've used the GAZ_UI mod for a looong time, and I LOVE it. Playing FA without it is tough :) However, lately I've been having a small problem with the "Show more unit stats" option.

Usually it works fine and I can see things like build rate, regen, etc. But out of the blue it's stopped working about 30-40% of the time. I'll start a game and will notice that the extra info isn't showing up. I quit and start a new game and maybe it's fixed and maybe it's not. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason behind it.

Anyone have an idea? Thanks!

EDIT:

I'm a dork. Just looked through the last couple pages of this thread and found the fix for this problem, as well as a nice fix for the replay-renaming bug too. Links for anyone who stumbles upon this in the future :)

Thanks for those, guys.

Well, glad you found the solution, and that you're enjoying GAZ_UI. Sorry can't be of much help, I dont even have FA installed anymore these days ^_^;

Dr. Nick, thanks for posting those bug fix links. I've updated my personal copy of the GAZ-UI mod with those fixes.

I'm not really confident I won't break something if I try, so could someone implement all those fixes into the mod and PM it to me?

I'd be willing to, but I don't want to step on any toes. If AdmiralZeech is okay with it, I'll do it.

Feel free.

You can upload the new version into the Vault as your own branch (like I did for Goom's mod) or you can PM it to me and I'll upload it as a new GAZ_UI version and steal all the credit :P

AdmiralZeech will be updating this thread and the Vault at some point, but to speed things up for anyone interested, and per AZ's suggestion, here is an archive with the two bugfixes (replay duplication and missing additional unit stats) included.

http://www.mediafire.com/?7gi97kbdr0o8cmw

I did not increase the version number or change the mod GUID (since I'm not sure how AZ wants to do it). Because of this, the best way to update would probably be to move your current GAZ_UI mod folder to someplace outside your SupCom mods folder and then extract this one and put it in the old one's place.

Clear as mud, I hope. I'm happy to help if anyone has trouble. :)

Edit: Just tried to play a game on gpgnet without this mod enabled and it crashed again.

Sorry, I'm not actively working on the mod anymore, so you'll have to do some detective work of your own. Try using version 6 to see if it helps, try using just GAZ-UI with no other mods, etc.

Thanks for the reply, but the problem seems deeper - I tried playing a gpgnet game last night and the game crashed out again with a similar error, and that was without the UI enabled, so I can only assume that coincidentally something must have gone wrong with my install, as I assume that a simple UI mod can't mess up a game install, given it just sits in the mods folder and doesn't modify any files outside of that, right?

As far as I know, the only thing it could mess up is your game.prefs file.

Try backing it up and deleting it. The game will regenerate a new one, you'll lose all your settings but you can see if it helps.

Instructions for finding game.prefs is in the GAZUI readme, I think.
