I dunno how I didn't hear about this until now, but this is awesome! I'm gonna try to get a bunch of my old clan members around to start playing again. :D

yep it's weapon part in bp weirdly has attributes applied to a beam weapon, which shouldn't be there (I guess)
have it fixed already, but there's still some things to do before I send the updated version to Pilot

I also found out that the energy consuming buildings such as the Eye of Rhianne, Mass fabricator, mass extractors, shield generators etc. don't have the amount of energy they drain stated behind their energy costs (in red numbers).

Much like the mass extractors, power generators and mass fabricators have in green numbers (Like this)

Also, the hive and kennel don't have their first and (in the case of the hive) second upgrade, in the engineer section, like the Cybran shield generator has in the in the Building - Defence section.

Quick question: new player here, due to work and time related issues I'll never be able to play multiplayer - but the mention of autopatching in this interests me. Would it benefit singleplayer guys like me who just installed the program and have no idea what patches to get?

I searched enough to find out about the 3599 patch and the existence of the 3603 beta (didn't get that though), as well as the community bug fix patch. I'm in the dark about everything else though. It would be nice if there was a program that would help automate the patching progress.

Already tried GPGNet. It's really buggy for me: many links simply don't work. I clicked on "Enter the Vault" and it never does anything. If I rightclick on it and select "open in new window" I get a browser windows displaying a page not found error. Basically I've given up on GPGNet. But I enjoy the game and would like to keep current with whatever patches are out there.

Right now, the FAF patch breaks the AI, so use the normal 3603 patch instead. Also, you can download the 3603 patch mod version 6.1 to get the balance changes that FAF uses.

FAF doesn't break FA AI compatibility, but only Sorian AI mod, because it requires a special lobby incompatible with the one in FAF.

I must also state that Sorian causes desync in multiplayer, so it's not really a big deal :)

- Patch 3606 for FA :
http://88.191.143.136/faforever/fafwiki/index.php/3606

If you have any trouble, I've updated the installer :

So try it first !

About 3606, what's meant by "high seas"? Does it mean wreckage appears at all depths or only deep water or only shallow water?

Sorian only causes desyncs if not all players have it, and the host adds in a Sorian AI. And it's more likely that Sorian isn't breaking in FAF (I've used Sorian in FAF) but rather, the nice maps included in FAF aren't properly noded (makes Sorian sit there and not do anything).

That said, if FAF really is somehow Sorian incompatible, that's really a shame. It's nice to fight AI's with buddies from time to time, and the stock AIs are pushovers.

Hey, there's a good idea. An improved AI for FAF ;)

"Small" update :

Smurf are detected and the smurf accounts will be removed. Be careful of the account you choose next time you log in !

And no, I won't say what I'm using to detect smurfing :)
It's hardware related, be don't fear it, and change of hardware should be painless.

We've moved to a new server, if you've got some problem, download this file and overwrite the one in your install directory (c:\Forged Alliance Forever - Lobby\ by default) :

PlayerTrack is a tool, that generally tracks stats about players. You can keep track of griefers etc. there and assess the performance of each player and for each match individually. Global ranking does not exist in PlayerTrack.

I am not sure why this paragraph in the wiki entry exists, the rating system of FAF (while sure superior for... well... actual rating and ranking puproses ;)) is no substitute for what PlayerTrack is doing. It is completely misleading.

PT is pretty much the only reason I started playing again last time :D. I lurve stats.

Holy ****, I just checked the forum after maybe two years because I realized i still have some FA custom maps in my "documents" folder and it's like christmas. Out of nostalgia, I come here, and boom : big surprise.
I got to check thoroughly if I'm not mistaken, because what Ze Pilot wrote on the first page on this topic is like a fracking dream!

I perfectly remember you Admiral. Actually, I'm rather surprised because I remember tons on people from here. It must be because I haven't really played any other RTS online since FA...
I hope word of mouth will bring attention to this great project and bring back players once the project is solid enough. I have to reinstall FA to begin with (and find my discs, which won't be that easy...).
