Is there any way to beat these things besides, you know, more elephants ? I am mostly playing on greece and both Prodromos and Hoplite, there supposed counters, failed to stop masses of elephants. (and I didn't mean fail by a little, I mean hops in full purple getting slaughtered en mass without killing a single unsupported elephant.)

3K health and Trample is just too much IMHO. need nerf, severely.

Well, they were noted for being rather OP even in the Ancient era!

Have you tried massed archers, elephants are slow so you could kite them? (Havent faced off against them, so I dont know how they work)

I think the greek counter is priest + hops. hop to tank them and priest to convert them, they cannot kill each other after being converted because they are so tough.

However why is there a unit capable of beating everything else ? they are not even all that hard to spam.

Historically phants are really used for intimidation, because they can be scared to run among your own troops !
