Hey Everyone,

My apologies for taking so darn long to get a status update out about K&C… sometimes we just get carried away and forget how important it is to share information.

For those who haven’t heard, a few weeks ago, at a special event in San Francisco, we recently announced that we have taken a lead role in the development of Age of Empires Online. We are super excited about this huge opportunity, and we’re hard at work on the game.

There have been many questions about what that means for the future of Kings and Castles, but the biggest question is, is K&C dead? Not quite, but it is on hold. The next question is, for how long. And though I would love to answer that, I just don’t know. It could be a year or more, perhaps even years, but in the big scheme of things, we just take things one day at a time.

For those of you who enjoyed the zany video blogs I did for K&C, we have been working with MS to create a new series specific to AOEO. You can check out the first in the series here: http://www.ageofempiresonline.com/artic ... blog1.aspx

Let me take this one last opportunity to thank you all for your support, and apologize again for the awkward silence. I should know better than to be so tight on info… my bad!

Have a great weekend all!

Chris Taylor

Thanks for the update GPG!

But this was what I feared: GPG abandoning their own game which we contributed with lots of ideas and input :( Hence my emo ranting on the other thread here.

This update is really appreciated though. I won't check KnC forums now every friday night, just to see there is no update. Good luck on Age of Empires Online! I hope you can save that game.

Learn to read, buddy. It hasn't been abandoned, just shelved. K&C may well come back after GPG is done with AoEO.

Not really, but I'd support AoEO over KnC right now. The Age franchise is far larger and more profitable than creating a new IP that only appeals to SupCom fans.

I'm just glad to hear GPG is working on something big. I was getting worried with the lac of news over Winter. It makes sense that KnC has to be put on hold (bit of a shame though) for the AoEO project.

No way. KnC has more potential than AoEO. Far more refined RTS gameplay, more strategy, more options, better UI. Better EVERYTHING.

/totally selfish.

I love gas powered games. But i have to tell the truth about one thing age of empires is the worst game I have ever played and besides why not start fresh with Kings and Castles. Why start with someone else creation if gas powered games wants to become even bigger and better why not make a fresh game like they where doing it just disappoint me; and also "but the biggest question is, is K&C dead? Not quite" that really bugs me. Great concept comes from great minds. I would like to apologize for what i said. I was being an idiot sorry. I just realize they would have a bigger budget for k&c. I will also give age of empires a try because gas powered games are helping make the game.

They start with "something else" because then they make a ton of extra money.

Let me just lay out what went down, because its clear you don't know what happened.

Microsoft was sitting in their palace, when suddenly they realized they needed a developer to finish off and work on further content for AoEO. So dudes talked to other dudes, it kinda went like this "Yo dawg, I know you looking fo help and I be learning that then GPG guys are pretty rad....yo" so Microsoft WENT TO Gas Powered Games and said "yo dawgs we hear you lot are rad beyond compare, want to work with us?"

At that point, you'd have to be a colossal RETARD IDIOT BABY MAN to say no thanks to MICROSOFT of all people. So yeah, KnC is on hold, possibly for a long time, but you know what, if GPG working on AoEO enables them to have a bigger budget for KnC You won't see me complaining, especially after what we've been shown, its almost(but not quite) gotten me genuinely excited for a game. Last time that happened? Supreme Commander!

Mike

The question now is, is AOEO such a big project that it requires the entire GPG team to work on? ^_^

Either way, aoeo will most certainly fill GPG's koffers to such an extent that K&C will give starcraft 2 a run for its money. :D

I sincerely doubt AoEO will have mod support tbh...

I'm just glad this game isn't being abandoned. Never been a huge fan of the aoe series less-so since it got in the way of this game and even more less-so since I'm usually not a fan of online games. But as one person already pointed out aoe has a much larger franchise and fan base. it just makes sense for the company to devote as much of their resources as possible to that and make sure they do it right.
