So, Just what is BlackOps:Alternate Reality?

Its basically going to be the dumping ground for units that are either a bit too silly or just couldn't properlly fit in with the Unleashed or Secret Weapon Mods. These units might not be as high quality model ro effects wise as our other work, but they will be functional, after all, just is mostly a place to dump our sometimes useless work/ideas.

That's why I said that the AC-500 and the Super Mega Ultra Tank really alters reality. Don't get me wrong but I always had your first post in mind and expected Alternate Reality's flavor to be on the silly side, and Unleashed's flavor to be more serious in terms of balance, physics, effects, etc.

IMO, Part of what made BlackOps so successful is the fact we have always paid attention to the interfaction balance, and not only spread out our additions to all stages and theaters of the game, and always tried to enhace Factional Diversity instead of remove it.

You bring up the Hydra, what you have to realize is that unline the other T1 additions, the Hydra can enhace a cybran T1 army in many different ways based on what weapon it gets, but an Avenger will always act like an Avenger, and if we added the Rocket Bug to Unleased, Cybrans would have a larger advantage in long range attacks and still have an advanatge if you breakthrough to shorter ranges. they wouldn't be Unbeatable, but still skew the balance.

Mike

This is a much satisfying description, very precise. Now I know what you mean. Cybran T1 Bugs do have long range, and (if I remember right) the UEF Avenger always function as quick-setup defense. But if Cybrans get Bugs and Hydras...they can quickly overrun a base during the T1 phase of the battle.

But what if other factions get new units as well? ^_^ More more MOAR! CAAAAKE!

Still, I can't really pinpoint any "not so high quality models" or "effects wise". Alternate Reality model wise just looks as great as Unleashed to me, maybe a little notch lower than Unleashed. Them Bugs, they look Cybran, they function well (except for the premature detonation of their rockets).

I guess that's the difference with a play-tester and a mod-maker. Sort of like a sound technician/musician finding lots of difference between WMV lossless and MP3 320kbps. That's you guys. Me, I just listen to music.

i'll take a look at the rocket bug, it may just be that the rocket is flying too low and is actually hitting the ground early or something. i can't remember if i set it to track ground or track targets, if it is set to track targets then its possible that their target is in fact dead so that's why toe rockets just go poof.

Your just getting caught up on the title, as the description sayds, its not only for the kinds of things that'd be imbalancing or just silly, but also things we can't fit into our other mods for whatever reason.

Well, perhaps. A bit of detail about how I encountered this: The bugs were actually on higher ground when they shoot their rockets at the targets which were all in lower ground. So I guess you could have had their rockets set to track targets?

How to use the ac500:

1) Work out which side the guns are on (I always forget)
2) If they are on the left hand side go to 3, else go to 4
3) create a patrol counterclockwise around the enemy base
4) create a patrol clockwise around the enemy base
5)....
6)....
7) Profit

Alternate reality is a fairly awesome mod.

Kinda sad when there are not changes from my last post. This is a compatability fix for the new version of BOGIS.

well, like we said, this mod is for stuff that we just couldn't find a place for or stuff we didn't think should be in the main mod, basically just a bunch of OP crazy ****. so no not really being worked on as per say, but i will be releasing an update to this mod as well when we update all the BO projects

I have to ask..
Will the AI also manufacture these units?
If so I wouldn't use the mod, they look awesome and I would give them a try, but if I can expect a maxxed out AIX to throw them at me after 10 minutes then there is no way that I am going to use it :P

Far as I am aware hawk never added code to this to swap the units into use by the AI.

Greetings.
I would like to use the 1.1 version of this mod, but when I try to enable it, I get an error message, stating that I do not have the needed mod for this to run:

9e8ea941-c306-4751-b367-f00000000004 .

95% certain its the most recent BlackOps: Icon Support Mod you're needing there.

I don't know what was the problem, but the latest version of BlackOps:Alternate Reality works.

LOL Knight you where close :P

Zsombi basically any mod that has a dependancy usually requires the proper version of both mods to function. If the dependancy (in this case Blackops Global Icon Support) is updated then so does the mod that uses it.

v1.1 of AR was keyed to BOGIS v4 but if you updated any of the otherb lackops projects (Unleashed, ACUs, SpecWep) they are all set up to used BOGIS v5. Once you updated AR to v1.2 it is now looking for the newer version of its dependancy being used by all blackops mods.

Oh, thank you for the explanation :) .

Another question: the UEF Duke Nukem Experimental Medium Range Anti-Matter Nuke Armed Artillery Tank doesn't do anything if the target is an area on the ground, without any particular target. -didn't tried to use against enemy objects.
Also the AC500 Gunship? once took off, does not want to land -tried even in 81x81 km sized very flat map. - :?: are these behaviors normal?
Thank you.

Edit:
I tried the UEF Experimental Nuke Artillery Tank against enemies too. instead of attacking just moves next to them.

Edit:
The four plasma turrets do fire, but the main cannon still does nothing.
The nuke shells are build though.

I know the last reply was almost a month ago but..

Is it me or is the zip link located in this post redirecting to old version of 1.0 instead of 1.2?

Yeah it was kind of silly thing of me to put the question that way, but at least I got my point across =P

BlackOps:Global Icon Support is the mod your looking for.

Your best bet is to just go to the Vault and use the BlackOps Vault Downloader, it shoudl automatically queue all official BlackOps Mods to download.
