Answer: No, its not back up.

Bullet, you win the argument. It is Steams fault.

How?

How? If it was a steam problem you'd be having problems with Steam...not Sup Com.

Steam isn't just one server or backend..

My wild guess is a minor change made by Valve had an unexpected consequence for the network implementation in SupCom2.

We still haven't heard any specific updates from Valve, but it was apparently affecting a wide spectrum of titles that rely on Steam for matchmaking.

I suspect that their server fixes actually did solve the problem, as they were very confident about what was causing it when I last spoke to the Steam rep.

I also strongly suspect that because it doesn't force a restart of Steam, the problem may persist for people who are still logged in from before their update this afternoon, and the problem would likely be true for both Hosts and Clients.

If you are seeing this problem, please try shutting down and restarting Steam. If you try to join a game and it says you cannot connect, just move on. The host has probably not reset his client yet. Better yet, host your own, and only players with a restart, or who haven't been seeing the problem would be able to join you.

My only response to the Steam haters from a developer's perspective is that Steam's turnaround time once we contacted them was fantastic. I believe they had (and may still have) an entire team of network engineers working on the fix within minutes.

I have restarted steam and having spent approximately 10 minutes on a hosted game with no one joining, in addition to continued inability to join any other person's game (I tried them all), hence I would suspect I have enough evidence to reasonably conclude that the issue is not, in fact, resolved.

Yes, 15 times an hour, once every 4 minutes to be precise.

I just loled. What a way to kill a game that is already struggling than take away it's multiplayer.

We just received an update from Steam. They have initiated a temporary fix to the problem for all servers, but are still working on a permanent solution that they hope can be implemented later today.

I believe this means we shouldn't see any more connection problems from this point forward, but to be safe, you might want to restart Steam if you continue to be unable to connect.
