RCIX wrote: I am posting as a new member of the Eschmod team; I took my work and put the best aspects of it into a copy of Eschmod, then began to layer more interesting changes on top of that. It's in community preview over on the Steam SC2 forums while Esch is busy with school, then he'll take it and run it through his playtesting group to finish fixing any bugs and tweaking balance. It also looks like Machater may be coming on board to help with getting the AI to behave more inteligently in the use of rebalanced units and new research. Link pls?!

I've been quite busy due to exams, but I have to say that the game is quite... dead. I'm a bit angry since we were working hard on a new project, but why bothering for a huge work if the FA PROH community is not going to play this game (and I have to say that they're right at this point) and the community is almost vanished in the void. Actually the game itself requires much more than a balance mod: it deserves a huge update to pull the old supcom FA back with the new graphic engine. At least I can say I tried to revive a game from its 6 months long coma. At the moment I'm not going to play it, just too much work and I don't want to receive a ridicolous multiplayer experience. Because of this, I'm officially retiring from this work, but only for a short period. I think I will start again playing (and modding) only if I see a decent patch or new FREE DOWNLOADABLE content. I will still help RCIX and the other active modders if they ask me.

Gpg & Square pissed away what could of been an awesome game engine by focusing it's development towards consoles and removing / disabling the modding tools. Hell, I could go on and on with all the reasons (as there are several) but more then anything, I'm as pissed off as you are. From the first mention of this game I was sooo excited about the possibilites a new game engine could bring, coupled with full modding support. However now that Starcraft is in everyones crosshairs, SC2 is dead as sh!t and it doesnt have a fraction of the community that SC1 & FA had to keep it going. GPG can come out with all of the patches it wants now and i wont mean a dam thing as noone will be around to care. They sold us out for a quick dollar and in the process ruined the good name of the SC franchise. As it stands now, my copy sits untouched.... Collecting dust until the day arrives that it finally finds it's way into the rubish bin. So much for hoping that GPG would release something people would want to play and mod for years to come. While negativity seems to rule... positivity somewhat is subtly around, grazing, though, while all this is subjective to the liking of this game, I think with K&C in production and some of the things thought impossible with SupCom2 (no matter how redundant and irrelvelant Skirmish saves may be to some) patches might actually be the games' biggest hope because of the new found bug-master Seiya. Though, I understand that patience is thin and current patching is longer than the weekly awesomeness, I wouldn't loose hope just yet. SupCom 3 sounds promising

well i am with resin on this one, i had such high hopes for SC2, hell i even outlined all the work and changes i was going to make, hell i even added a new race(tech trees and everything but models finished too >.>) once the damned game came out, but without proper mod support it just became too much of a pain in the ***. i have a small hope that someday gpg will give us proper mod support, but at this point im not really going give a damn. my hopes now lie with KnC

Well the SupCom franchise only had one real reputation, that of a resource hog. Everything else fell by the wayside as far as the general public was concerned. SupCom2 may actually have improved the reputation of SupCom in that respect.

I knew that something was going wrong, but I thought that a good mod community and the passion of a few players could change everything. The main problem is: the community sucks hard - I mean - I never saw so many people exploiting bugs and never fixed unbalanced units (like the ACUs); I don't like the idea that a RTS is the bugcatchers' nest, neither I like who plays just to win ignoring the way of achieving it. While playing starcraft, I never saw someone who won by just exploiting a bug; every player is playing fair and that's all; you can see it in almost every decent RTS out there, but when you enter supcom2 lobby, you have to seriously think that almost every opponent is going to ACU rush you; if you're lucky, you may find a bunch of angry players but they're an exception. It's incredible that half of the suggestion and general forum talks about absolute unbalanced units and how game sucks. Henceforth, I don't think I will use my spare time for something is going to be ignored by the community.
EDIT: Do you want to know how many times I played my mod since the latest release with someone? 0 times.

It is not supposed to work altogether at this time I think. You can use either mine or his, but not both.
