I would really like to see the vault in-game for K&C if mod support is included. It worked well with SupCom 1 and FA, but some players were confused and couldn't find it because they didn't use GPGnet. If it was a button on the main menu of the game, then I don't think anyone would have a problem with it and it would help promote mods.

Being able to open the game, look at mods, download them, have them installed, and being able to use them without ever closing the game would be very nice and user friendly. Same goes for maps.

I agree, when people have to download maps from the web and put them in the right folder there is always a lot of confusion.

The ability to join a game with a map you don't have and download it from there without leaving would be good to. Age of mythology had that feature and it was very practical.

I agree 100%, but how would it be implemented? It doesn't seem like an easy task, especially if steams being used again. Could someone enlighten me?

Well, from a technical standpoint, GPG would have a server that stored data on each mod and the mods themselves, including a description and what other mods are required by that mod.

The game would have a button in the main menu that you press which would bring up a mod browser, letting you search for, download, and rate mods, along with showing the top rated mods and new mods. In other words, it would be a lot like the GPGnet vault.

Even if GPG uses SteamWorks for matchmaking, they can still have parts of the game that use GPG's servers, so this should be possible.

Consider, how do you get maps for valve games? They allow you to define content servers that things can be downloaded from. The framework should already be there, they just need to tie into it.
