Replay research log & launcher

Launch replays by clicking replay files and see what players are researching during replays.

Download link:
http://members.iinet.net.au/~dionysus/m ... yTools.zip

NOTE: You will need to amend the bat files if you installed Steam or Supcom2 into a non-standard location.

**** WORKS with the DLC replays *****

sc2replays.bat - A bat file that you can associate to .sc2replay files (and .sc2replaydlc files) to open the replay automatically when downloading from GameReplays.org or when double clicking a replay file. Means you can have your replays stored anywhere and open straight to them in game. To setup just double click a replay file and select the sc2replays.bat file to Open With.... You can also just drag a replay file on to the bat file. This latest version will backup your lua.scd before running and replace it with the lua.replay described below. Then after the replay is complete (press a key in the cmd window) it will restore the backup version. This should make it so that it doesnt interfere with online matches.

sc2replays_showlog.bat -As above, but opens the game in windowed mode and shows the game log window.

lua.replay and z_lua_dlc1.replay - Put these in your game data folder (dlc one only needed if you have DLC) to see messages in replays indicating what each player is researching (need to use the sc2replay.bat launchers above). It also writes to the game log file/window so you can see the exact game time something was researched.

You can still use SetFocusArmy, and it's still fully functional. Just ConExecute it.

Updated to work with 1.13.

Also you may wish to add /size to your main Supcom2 commandline to reset you resolution to what you want it to be. It seems putting it to windowed for replays stuffs it.

Havent had much time to work on putting the replay log into a chat window in game... plus its a real pain having to redo after each patch.

Sounds like you have already stuffed up your file associations for the .sc2replay files.

Right click on a .sc2replay file and select "open with" -> "Choose Program". Then choose the sc2replay.bat file that I have created.

If that doesnt work put the bat file on your desktop and drag/drop the replay file onto it. Once you have run a replay this way the "open with" menu on right click should have an option for the sc2replay.bat

So I didn't have to add that code just drag and drop. Do I have to have Supcom2 running already or does it start steam and supcom2 for you.

I had it working last night but I don't know what I did. I will try what you suggested right now.

Sorry I have have confused you. No code needs to be modified.

Place the lua.scd in your gamedata folder (back up your old one).

Then open a replay file with the sc2replay.bat file. You can do this by standard windows file assocation or if thats to hard you can just drag a replay file onto the sc2replay.bat.

PS: It would be nice to know if someone has this working okay and can see the research in replays... like I have been enjoying for the last few weeks.

Positive feedback?

I have done what you said but the game doesn't launch. I don't know what happen last night but i got it working once.

Found out how to get it to work.
1. Go to steam shortcut
2. Right click and select properties.
3. Go to where it says target and make a space after C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe and paste -applaunch 40100 /replay %1 /showlog /windowed 1024 768
and click apply and close.
4. Now when you start steam it launches Supcom straight away with an error
5. click OK and load a replay. log window will open when supcom first starts with that error box.

Thats how i got it to work.
Maybe there is a bug with win 7 x64

I am fine with this for now.

By the way great tool.

You shouldn't have to do all that. Just drag a replay file to the bat file. It will launch steam and the game.

Anyone else tried it?

Yep just edited your bat file as my steam is installed on D:\Steam\Steam.exe not default path drag and drop works now. Just can't associate it with the bat file.

that doesn't tell you the research during the replay.

Ah, right. But you should still be able to modify the file association settings, so that the bat is not really needed. Have to check that later today.

Yes of course, but my main aim was the research list.

The file association for replays should be set automatically by GPG/Steam, but it isnt so this is a quick work around.

This is awesome, thanks for the hard work :)

I think this could be posted under general supcom2 discussion as well since it's technically not a mod of SupCom2 from the looks of things. I know a lot of users up there don't come down here often.

Wow, this thing is really great ducane, thank you so much! :D Knowing the research adds so much more depth to what is going on!

I've got it working, but could you just put a little warning in the first post that you have to edit the batch file's location if your steam is installed somewhere different? Might save some people a few minutes headache.

Also what is the aiBrain for? Just throw it in the gamedata folder to see the AI's research options then? :S

Great tool man, can't wait to test out whatever else you add to it.

Edit: I'm guessing all mods must be removed before you can play online again? Just replace the original lua each time or what? :S

Would it be possible to add a timestamp into the research dialogue?

UPDATED!

- Will now show the research in game without the need for the log window.
- Added timestamp to log window
- Fixed issue where research was listed twice

Are the informations of the research log 100% correct? I just opened a replay and saw someone who researched about 14 different upgrades in 15 seconds... looks like there are cheater in SC2 or probably "just" an exploit.

It was a match I had today so its v.1.15.
6 player FFA, no rules, no exclusions .
I uploaded it to let you watch it yourself if you want to:
http://www.mediafire.com/?h2olmn2gdmm
Watch the log of Dan.

If I am right:
1. Is there a blacklist or something for SC2?
2. @ GPG: hope you fix that as soon as possible. :?

I have watched the replay and I think Dan is cheating somehow... He researches a bunch of stuff by 15 seconds. Its like he starts with many more research points but then doenst seem to gain more later on so its could be a mem hack (i.e. change a memory value that holds the research points at start).

On the plus side I have uploaded a new version that is compatible with 1.15 and also will run in a way that doesnt interfere with online play.

I will update the top post shortly....

[EDIT] OP updated... plus screenshot of Dan cheating !! [/EDIT]
