I still think Rings is the best console RTS.
But I'm enjoying Supcom2.
I wish they would have used the left Dpad to cycle through your engineers.
Its not used as all, and that would have been handy.
Finding engineers is the only stumble.
Of coarse unit type selection would have been nice too.
So you could seperate your bots from your artillary easily.
I know you can doulble A to get all of a unit, but Rings made it so easy to select any part of your army. Its not so easy in Supcom2.
Other wise its good though.

I guess I'm alon here, but since the lt dpad isn't used, that would have been nice to find engineers.

controls overall for the 360 work pretty well, whilst they are blatantly not as fluid as mouse/keyboard I dont feel like I am being hampered by them now I have acclimatised to them. there are acouple of niggles, one being the above suggestion (though you can select any engineer or factory and then scroll using LB to find an idling engineer) and the other being a momentary stick when placing building templates. On the whole I am impressed with the adaptation to 360 that GPG have made.

Other wise its good though. Like the one above me said it's done with RB or LB quick way to do it though is: Push in the left thumbstick that should zoom to your ACU, open the building radial then press RB or LB should goto either your factories or spare engies.

I guess the 360 version is still hampered by what made the pc version a total dump, i.e, dumber AI , simplified economy and less variety of units. Hey atleast we don't have to mess w/ steam. Almost every pc thread I've been to runs on for pages saying f*** steam.

True, it works, but Lt Dpad would have been much easier. And specific unit selection would be nice too. But I'm not complaining, the controls are pretty solid.

Other wise its good though. push on your left thumb stick. then click on your acu like your gona buildsomething with him. then hit right bumper. youl swap through engineers and unit producing buildings.

What, you guys started the comparisons? hmm sup com mass glitch spam air. thats real deep. halo wars is balanced, which is way more important then depth. there is no possible argument that sup com2 for the 360 is better then halo wars.

I'm new to these forums but have been playing since release. I have heard a alot of people talk about Rings played it way back when it came out but was not on live at the time so never did anything but skirmish. Halo Wars got me hooked on consle RTS mulitplayer and supcom is a step up even with the total lack of support.
But I digress I have question concerniong Rings: Are people still playing at all? What patches have come out? What DLC has come out? Is there compition on the leader boards?
Thanks,

When the hell was warthog/leader rushing balanced? Not to mention the fact that the controls were really slow to respond, there were hardly any units, only two factions, and the base system also sucked. There wasn't any depth in it whatsoever.

Here is an other vote for SUP COM 2 over Halo Wars. I have a good 2000 + games of Halo wars on line multiplayer and after playing SC 2 I just can't go back. Even with the total lack of support for this games so far it just has so much more depth if HW is tic tac toe SC 2 is chess.
Halo Wars is a great game and introduced me to competive RTS and it looks much better but the small scale and lack of units means you end up playing the same game over and over and over. Yes there is deep stratagy in the higher level play but nothing like what SC 2 has the potential for. Sadly at this point it is just potential as there has been no support to fix the glitches and miner balance issuses. SUP COM 2 could have been great with more addvertizing and some support but maybe next time. Until then I will keep having fun with a great yet broken game.

There wasn't any depth in it whatsoever. depth<balance and halo wars is balanced there are 6 different leaders btw all of the play different at high level play, its at low level/mid level play where the game lacks depth since low level is super unit spam and mid level is failing to imitate high level play because these players dont think about adapting and just assume the build order and leader combo will win the game. tu2-nerfed prophet like a month after the game came out tu3-hog nerf-sometime in july tu4-gremlin nerf if you see a game between 2 top level teams its 100% different then any other game on halo wars.

Thanks, people still play it but there is little competition left. you cant even get a ranked game anymore. some people play ranked rules on unranked though. idk about patches or dlc, i played it for a period of like 2 weeks with one of my friends from halo wars who was a top lotr player. if your not already good at it with out someone to teach you it will be a steep learning curve since there are imbalances in it. goblins are the best because of a op unit. mount beats archer archer beats pikemen pikemen beat mount. the goblins have a mounted unit that can switch from a standard mounted wepon to a bow. so that unit counters everything. since this never got fixed i doubt there was ever a patch. im no expert at the game though.

Tomanater thanks for the info on Rings I may have to bust it out and try some on line play. As for HW early on I made it into top 100 in 1v1 and got into the top 500's in 2 and 3 UA but I never opened 2nd or 3rd acounts and srewed around to much with new strats. when the reset happened. To be honest never had the mico to be a top player just had some great and unexpected build order/rush or early attacks that really suprized most players.
It got to be tough try to clime the leader boards due to anyone who took it seriously have multipal accounts lagging out of loseing game and boasting. It is and was a great game and best of all I think it brought a lot of new players to the RTS genre. I hope we see an HW 2, and I also hope we see a patch for SC 2 but at this time I don't think it will happen.
Its to bad because if SC 2 was handled better more time beta testing more support and some atemt at advertiseing and they could have gotten alot more people to come over from HW wars and had much better sales and numbers of people playing but that is what you get being a consle RTS fan we are before our time and get no love.
