Wednesday March 31st, the forums will be down for the entire day (10am-6pm PST) as we upgrade both the forum software and move it to more powerful hardware.

Due to some issues with passwords being moved between different versions of the phpbb forum software, please make sure your email address in your account preferences is up to date. You can hit your profile directly from this link.

During this downtime this version of the forums will still be accessible, but in read only form. No new posts will be allowed until the upgrade is complete.

Once the upgrade is completed, we will need a little help from the community to track down any bugs/inconsistencies with the new forum theme, this will be explained in more detail after the downtime.

Forum signature sizes will be changed slightly with this update, I don't have the exact dimensions yet but will post them here as soon as possible.

In my test environment I have not seen any issues with the password conversions (we all know how well test environments mimic real world right? ), I don't expect people to have to change their passwords but there might be an issue here and there where they didn't convert correctly.

Having your email updated is a precaution that will allow you to use the built in password reset functions for PHPBB rather than trying to contact a mod to reset it manually.

What about filtering specific users? Double post protection?

Special care was given to keep the theme as close to what it currently is as possible, a few areas have been lightened up to keep it more in line with the gaspowered.com color theme, but yes, the black background remains!



Avatars will stay the same, report button will be there, multi quote is there, more smileys is a possibility (we are just keeping the same smileys for the time being)

There is also room to expand with a karma system or something along those lines, but this would need to be discussed first.

I can't recall off the top of my head about double post protection, but there is a user ignore feature, and also the friend/foe system.
