I am a huge fan of the cybran, obviously. I have made good use of every single cybran experimental online, except the cybranasaurus.
I feel that this unit is far too weak to be worth the 1500+ mass. 1500 mass worth of unit spam, or bomb bouncers (heck even a few megaliths) is far more valuable than a C-Rex.
It's such a shame, too, because the major experimentals are so damn cool looking. Unfortunately it seems that's all they are.
Does anyone share this view?
What could be a potential fix to this? Make King Kriptor/C-Rex/Collossus more effective, but more build time? I want people to be scared when I send one of these babies at them with my zerg of other random units. It'd be nice if saving up ~1500ish mass would be worth it.

I don't agree. I'd say it's 100% useless.

I may be wrong, but from my brief time playing as Cybran (haven't completed campaign yet) the C-Rex seems much weaker the the equivalent UEF n Aeon experimental (king kriptor n collossus) No decent range to it.. it's good if it's got a **** load of small units directly ahead of it and that's about it. Please feel free to correct, as I say, not a load of experience with it.

99.9% useless, i say 99.9% because all it does is serve as a huge decoy for the enemy army to target while the rest of your army can concentrate on destroying their army!
As most have already said in other threads the experimentals are a tad weak and should be buffed to bring back some of that fear factor they once had.

Yeah that's basically the only way it's effective. Hence the 98.3% useless, lol.
The bombs that pop out of its sides do negligible damage to upgraded units.
The two artillery shells that it fires miss 90% of the time unless it's shooting at a building. The rate of fire is crap, so that's negligible as well.
I only lumped the colossus + Kriptor in with the C-Rex because I've heard other people complaining about em as well. I personally have never built a Kriptor/Colo as I spend most of my time as Cybran.

I dunno, I used one the other day and it was heavily supported and its flames tore through everything that the other people had built.

I'd say closer to 95% useless. Its firebreath shreds whatever gets caught in it, but its so slow that it can be outrun and kited by almost anything.

Comparing Exps across factions, each of which is very different, is not a good platform or claiming something sucks.

The Rex is pretty Sad, compare it to the reaper, it's practically a waste of mass.

The reason it is so useless is because it has such a short range, compared to the other units like KK and UC, which have big health and long range.
They need to increase the range a little and double the hitpoints or something.

Mike
This post was useless and had nothing to do with the thread topic, please be constructive in this thread or don't post at all.
Thanks.
Anyway,
Yeah, I'd definitely rather have a reaper than a rex. C-rex costs what, 14 points to research? ~1500 mass, and 3 minutes build time?
Benefits to a C-rex:
?? It looks cool ??
Negative aspects:
walks slow, turns slow (you'd think something huge with 4 legs would be quite quick)
small range
long build time
Huge resource investment
Weak alternate weapons
...?
Someone make a mod to replace the C-Rex with a Monkeylord, haha.

They could make it usefull by making it walk faster.
When you see a single grey blib on your radar coming at you at high speed you better make a run for it. When it gets close your done for!
Nobody can run from the flames of the rex. BWhuhahahaha
They should make the majors exps like this:
UC: Massive DPS but can only target one enemy at once.
KK: Massive DPS but spreaded over all of its guns so it can take on entire armies at once. 50% for the 2 mainguns and the other 50% spread over the smaller guns.
CR: Also high DPS, but has short range and fast movement

I read here that is has a very short range, so I haven't even built it once.
Also not a fan of a pseudo-animal in a robot army.

In a patch/expansion it definitely needs to be improved. It's a very well designed unit, but as much as I want to use it, it's simply a waste.
If it ran or galloped instead of walked, that would be pretty intense, ahaha.

I also think that speeding it up would do the trick. Maybe even make that its primary attribute: it is faster then every other land unit in the game.

Replay?

IT seems fairly useles to me, but then all the walker experimentals seem to fall into that category.
It's random AoE artillery fire is a bit lol aswell...
To make it more viable, it should at the very least be equipped with some moderate anti air.

Crex is awful, don't ever build it.

I dont have a replay, but in one of the first games I ever played I had 1 Crex kill 2 KK's, A FB, and whole bunch of units and still had 1/2 health left.
My buddies were crying imba!!! Until I tried it again. It has been the single most worst performing unit I have ever built - Besides the firebeetle.

The Crex is 100% useless. What a waste of perfectly good mass.
