business is business.
Of course. I was just noting the humor I found in the inexplicable faith people have in a company that keeps releasing bad games and then not supporting them. They don't have to make good games, and they certainly don't have to support them, some just interpret it as a bad PR choice to neglect to do either.
In any case, business is indeed business.

It's true that Demigod is a casual game, but I wouldn't call it a bad game.

Yeah, I think Demigod isn't as good as it should be, but it's still fun to play. Sometimes, I think I must be a masochist considering how much I play this game.

its funny how these "bad" games still entertained you for hundreds and hundreds of games.
forged alliance is a technical feat of awesomeness, and calling it a "bad" game makes you look foolish (especially since you even bothered to race to the top of the ladder).

With any luck, this weekend I'll have games up that you guys will be able to join and see the new demigods in action.
Look for "Frogboy 3 vs. 3" on the game list starting this weekend (or possibly Thursday depending on my schedule). http://forums.demigodthegame.com/368892/

brn4meplz had all of his Stardock CD-keys banned because of a technical error. Over a year ago. Stardock has still not reversed it, despite complaints.
I know it's old news, but really? Really?

You mean brn and Scyn. They both had a pre-ordered copy of demigod, canceled it well before beta began, and then Scyn's credit card was charged anyway. He tried to correct it with them and ended up refusing payment through his credit card company, they both got their stardock accounts banned because they (Stardock) couldn't properly cancel an order.

Seriously, the GBOR is 100% born from the mind of Brad Wardell at Stardock. GPG just attached themselves to it, no doubt for good press and such. Show me anywhere else where GPG has made this commitment a part of their company philosophy. They haven't.
Now on the Stardock side, this is something that Brad says he stands behind. I have observed on the Stardock forums several instances of refunds being given for Demigod for not living up to that documents ideals. Being the publisher, that is pretty much all Stardock can do on this particular project. The rest of that is largely up to the developer.
I can guarantee you wont be finding the GBOR mentioned for future GPG titles, you will see it for all Stardock titles however.

Indeed, but he's obviously referring to Demigod. Personally I think I'm witnessing a collective head-up-ass mentality from a lot of the old SupCom pros here because DG didn't end up being what THEY wanted it to be.
DG gave me a lot of hours of good game time. Now that 1.2 is about to launch with the modding framework in place, and the 2 new DG's shortly after, It's going to get another round of play from me and I'm sure many others.

Yea, pretty much. I honestly feel like Stardock has lived up relatively well to the GBOR; GPG, not so much.

Wait what? GPG don't have to be held accountable for their commitments but stardock do? Sorry, it doesn't work like that. Chris Taylor was getting just as much press as Brad Wardell was at the time.
It doesn't matter who came up with the idea, the fact is both of them (dishonestly) claimed they would uphold these ideals.

No, they both should be held accountable. It is just that, imo, Stardock has followed the GBOR (within reason), and GPG has not.
Nothing against GPG, I liked Demigod a fair amount and I like FA, but in no way was Demigod bug-free at launch or for anytime afterwards. I got it in the fall and it still has tons (far more than FA) of bugs.

No, I didn't say that. I said that was always Stardocks thing. GPG was paying lip service to it, nothing more. Stardock has imo held up their end of it admirably. I was at no time making excuses for GPG.

What is all lies? Linking to a partial patch note, the bottom of which states:
"The modding is going to become a big deal I believe as I am hoping we will be able to have our own mods that players will be able to distribute here on the game site or that we’ll eventually bundle with the game if they’re popular enough."
If I'm reading that right, it seems Frogboy is insinuating Stardock would like to release mods for DG as well, and is looking forward to doing so.

If 1.2 doesn't have a SDK or granny exporter, I am going to post WTF one million times on the forum. It has been long enough that we should have both. It's bad enough that we can't make custom maps. If modding can't deliver what we want, then what's the point?

Mike Frogboy made no promise that it would be going out wednesday. It was not a "lie".
