Thx Dragon Fly for explaining these things. I wish they would release the editor they used for FA. One extra note: There is a high learning curve for using this editor and everything that comes with it. All the tutorials on different locations, all small details. But once you know how things work it is indeed easy to use. And the bugs...ooooh the horror and nightmares.
I'm going to pull this map out of Beta soon. I've already fixed a few small things. The next 2 weeks will be the last in which I will gather feedback, after that the map will go Final.

After releasing my ForestPlanet FA V2b map yesterday on insidesupcom.de it's now time to update this topic. I've updated my first post, in there you will find links to 2 screenshots and a direct download link for the map. The map is not downloadable from The Vault (it crashes too much here) and I also need to know how to upload a .zip with preview image functionality. But that is for later.
Please let me know what you think of the map after you've played it, that would be much appreciated.
Enjoy

I really like the earlier version (the 5x10 4 player map), and I never thought anything needed to be changed. I'll try the new one though to see what changes you've made.
I understand why you wanted to make it more 'tournament worthy,' but I hope you didn't get rid of all of the asymmetry. Asymmetrical maps are awesome imo, and the stylized placement of canyons and lakes and little forest clusters on this one made it one of the prettiest maps I've ever played.

I found a bug which is serious enough to fix, some floating trees at a place where I worked on the terrain. Just something overlooked. A new version of this map will be released this weekend when I have time.

Thanks so much for this. Appreciate your attention to the details.
Looking forward to your fixed version.
Cheers

thx for the appreciation MagicSoul
All trees are planted into the ground at the moment. Tomorrow I will take a last look to check if I haven't overlooked anything else. So I will go through all the options once more. If nothing comes up I will release a new version tomorrow.
When I've released a new version just overwrite the old files because I won't change the name of the map.
2 new screens (also added to first post)
1920x1080 Screenshot 3 (new overview picture of entire map)
1920x1080 Screenshot 4 (Death of a Commander)

Hey All,
I'm currently at a friends house, my own PC died yesterday morning and now I'm here to test a few parts from my PC. I hope to have my own pc running again next weekend but nothing is sure at the moment.
I'll be back

That is so damn unfortunate.

I found out what the problem is. My OCZ 850W GameXStream Power Supply is partially dead. A few lines won't give enough power to a few parts so I'll have to replace it and maybe I'll send the PSU with a RMA back to OCZ. This can take a while but I'm not that patient.
The next few days will be used for some extra tests, after that I will decide what to do.

unplug all the fans, and underclock the pants off your computer; assuming it'll stay up long enough to reach the BIOS pages.

If the PSU is not working perfectly, you should actually not work with it much longer. Testing would work, but using it (even with underclocked components) is dangerous.

This PSU will go on a nice RMA. But first I will test some more, didn't have the time yet. Too much personal things going on at the moment.
Later this week I will buy a new one online, the one that will be returned from RMA will be my backup or will be sold... I haven't decided anything about that yet.
I'll keep you all updated

After more and more testing I found out that all parts are individually working just fine. But when they are together the system is unstable. How this happened I really don't know, it has always been a stable system.
The PSU is working flawlessly now, where it gave a small problem before, but that could also have been other hardware giving problems that I didn't notice which made me believe it was my PSU.
It's not a software issue either.
At the moment I'm typing this message on my unstable PC. I just ordered a new motherboard, cpu and memory
I'll keep you updated

I'm not exactly a PC repair expert.. But generally speaking any and all intermittent/not-so-easily-explainable problems with electronics are the result of a short somewhere.
I would expect a short in your computer to create bigger problems.. potentially even destroying the component, but it's possible that you're not quite there yet. Fiddling with the hardware may have momentarily jostled a wire/contact back into a good position, but I wouldn't trust it. Shorts=resistance=heat=fire=broken electronics.
Since you initially discovered that the problem was with inadequate power from your PSU, I'd bet that's where the short is located and that's what you should be replacing/RMAing if you still have that option.

I'm sure that the PSU is working 100% fine. After my first message, talking about the PSU, I ran more tests. It seems that there is a problem somewhere in the Motherboard/memory/cpu area so those are all being replaced.
Also because of personal things in life I didn't feel like testing much and only ran quick tests here and there. This also led to, me, posting messages here too quick about a possible problem.
I will pay extra attention with the assembly of my new hardware. Run a few tests to see if things work fine. My buddy Ciller will probably provide me some good software for this.
I had plans to get a Quad Core, but not for the next 6 to 9 months. I've now ordered a Core i7 860 2,8Ghz.

My computer is up and running again, and so far without any problems. Later this day Ciller will come over here and test some things out.
I will start working on my map as soon as possible, but RL is taking a lot of time right now. Expect the map to be released within a week or 3.

Sorry that I have to ask, but what is the difference? I mean, it looked awesome before, and it looks awesome now.
I guess you corrected all of those minor imperfections and added decals?

yeah some very small nit-picking imperfections :p and a few floating trees which I forgot to plant back into the ground after balancing the terrain a bit more.
I haven't touched the decals since the last version.

Time for a request:
If anybody has a replay uploaded to the Vault from my latest 5x10 map, please let me know by sending me a PM. I would like to watch a few games.
Thx in advance
