1 - CEP can help in this area.
2 - You could use imageshack.com (anyone know of a better free alternative?)
3 - I think it is best to have your own thread and submit your map in this thread.
4 - Try redownloading or search google for other download locations
5 - Yes, testing maps on our own computers will give us all information we need to provide you with the best possible feedback.
You can upload your map to The Vault of GPGnet or to http://supremecommander.filefront.com/

couldnt find any download location for that tool ><
when the AI is added to the map would i be able to get a copy?

Yes you can post the link here. If your map is of high standard we will put the AI in for you. After that we will send you the map with FA AI support. It's also a good idea to create your own topic. That way others can respond with feedback without cluttering this topic.

I am unsure how it was done unfortunately
I would love to take the credit... but I happened to notice the map painted desertv.0001 using 9 strata. I exported my map parameters (heighmtap lighting etc) into his map (Author was Johanaz I think( and edited it from there.

Maybe you can help on this front Paceydre? I'm not much good with programming, scripting or coding so if you wanted to take a look?? See if you can figure out how it was done?

Thanks for the info Xmall/lyndonj.
I think I will contact the author of that map to ask if he knows how he got the extra unused stratums to be used. This could change a lot in the mapping department.

Edit: BTW guys I found where the extra textures are added into the scmap file, although it looks like LyndonJ's file has 10 dds strata textures not the 9 he found, so possibly the total engine limit is 9. Looking at the 'Haven of War.scmap' file it's very possible 5 textures were copied from another map's scmap hexadecimal data and added below the existing 5. The 10th texture shows up as a macro texture albedo, so maybe that doesn't count, I don't know and can't tell you without further testing.
Anyway, I'm not going to post an explanation of how to do it here, and I'll probably only tell anyone once I've tried it a few times - I'm only assuming it will work
Edit2: Being the idiot I am, I've just been trying to get it to work for the past 2 hours. Nothing good to report yet. I had all 9 strata albedos showing in the editor, but unfortunately I hadn't added the extra normals to the file and so the 9 textures weren't appearing on the map. Adding normals hasn't quite worked yet...

I looked up the author and also found him on the vault (he is the author of elysion and a few others also). I wasnt able to find any contact info for him yet but I think we should be able to work it out. Good work Pureon - I also had a look at the scmap file under Col. Jessups instruction.
I also found the 10 and tried copying them to another map with no luck.... Though I can explain the reason there are 10 stratum is because there is a lower stratum, 8 normal stratum and an uppser stratum though I have not tried using the upper as yet.
I hope you can figure out how it is done so I dont have to keep doctoring other maps to make it work
EDIT: Just looked at the Upper stratum it seems to just cover the whole map just like the lower stratum but thats it so Its pretty useless

The upper stratum adds a random fractal pattern to make the maps look less artificial. I'd recommend only to change the 8 'real' strata to avoid complications for now.

The insides of the 'Haven of War.scmap' file look different to those created by either the official editor or Hazardx's. I'm still trying to understand the basics of the file by comparing it with empty maps. When I get home from work today I'll look at Painted Desert to see if that's any different (maybe turning it into Haven of War has turned it into a unidentifiable monster).
One possibility is that one of the GPGNET maps uses 9 strata, but I haven't looked through them all yet.
If I can work this out there's nothing stopping us from giving current maps a few extra strata to use too! And you all thought you'd taken your best maps as far as they could go

Ah of course!  Might have a play with it and see what happens...
With these maps even if we can get a 9 strata version of each size 5x5, 10x10, 20x20 etc and offer them as a template it would be easy to export stuff from old maps and import to the template
Just did a bit more work on haven of war and I have to say it is NICE using the extra strata
Actually this said I would appreciate feedback on it. Ill post it here

I'll have another look when I have time  But at the moment all my time is going into study and if not that then I am chilling by working on my map
Winston, The CEP has not yet been finished
It is under construction at the moment, this thread is about collecting maps for it!

Whats the problem with the editor? Also what OS are you running?
I had some drouble with the marker editor to begin with too..
Make sure you have the .Netframe work 3.5 installed and the direct-X Web thingo...
If you cant get it to work I am sure one of the others can help... My exams finish in 10 days so I can assist after that time too

Its not that i cant run it its just those ******* parental controls wont let me run it. also any help would be deeply appreciated. and my map "Stripe" crashes fa right before the map appears

Test map "Stripe"
Any download links to the latest versions can be send in a PM to me. Please don't direct me to The Vault... since I'm using Vista 64B the vault is giving me problems 99% of the time.
If I forgot to mention a map in this small list, please send me a PM with a download link, mapsize, # of players, FA AI yes/no.

I'm not looking into the 9 strata thing and asked Pureon to contact Johanaz. I'm too busy at the moment with real life things.
When I'm busy with FA I will work on my own maps. Still a lot to do. I have to finish up the 10x10 ForestPlanet FA V2a and I have started work on the 5x10 V2b version (remake). And besides those 2 maps I also have lots of work left to do on my 10x10 lava map.
On SupCom Files I only found the map "Xing", not the map "F". Maybe Hyperion_Personality could send me a link. Also I would like to know if both of these maps have decals and FA AI support? I haven't yet tested the map Xing but if it lacks FA AI support and/or doesn't have decals I will not test the map since that will mean I will have to run another test later on. Not enough time here to do that.
Is Pureon still around?
