GPGnet is being very problamatic for me, and I cant seem to figure out why.
Firstly, it generally runs very slow. Maybe this is just because the game's only just been released, but I get the impression other people don't have the same problem.
The main problem is that it keeps timing out. If I hang around in the lobby for too long before joining a game, I get a
System You are no longer in a chat room.
System *** YOU HAVE LOST YOUR GPGNET CONNECTION ***
and the Game and Ranking drop-down menus are greyed out.
A lot of the time, after clicking the "Join Custom Game" button, no servers are displayed.
Generally I have to keep logging in and out every few minutes until I eventually get a server list - at which point there seems to be about a one in ten chance of actually being able to connect to the specific game itself..
At first I thought this was a router issue, but I've run the NATTrace.exe test, and pass all checks successfully... Firewall allows both GPGnet and supcom, so that isn't a problem either. Disabled firewall and nothing... Any ideas?
Thanks

I was having this issue as well. I had some virus software (Mcafee) that was crashing my computer. I uninstalled Mcafee and reinstalled the game and the problem disappeared. I will be reinstalling the anti virus later today. If that recreates the problem I'll let you know.

After lots of retries, i was able to create an account (i seen al the errors pass by, invalid cd key ; cd key already in use ; no connection with the internet ... ect....
Now since i was able to create an account (that i can't always log in to)
If i can login i get this screen on the chat(see below), i haven't been able to play a game online since i have the game.
This should mean that ports are ok. cuz i have an account and can sometimes log in whitout some error.
But what can i do ?? i'm not an network scientist !!! why can they just make it work ?? All my other games work... so should i play them again, and tell my friends that supreme commander sucks cuz u can't play it online ??
Can anyone help me out here ?
Thank you for listening,
greetz smoker
ps.: don't delete post older than one week plz. so we can maybe find out something more about these problems (maybe older posts could help me out)

Sometimes when I log on, i get the "type key" box and the following invalid key message when i press "ok". Well i just press quit and try again, and about 50% of the times it works fine (no box asking for key).
But after about one minute in a chatroom (where i can chat and everything seems jolly nice) i get disconnected by the same message as posted above. You are disconnected from gpgnet and you are nolonger in a chatroom etc. I can at this point not connect to or find any games. So i have to log off and on again, hope i dont get the "type key" box, and then be quick about joining a game..

As was said above, this is most likely from an antivirus program you may have running. Give that a look, disable or uninstall it, and see what happens.

ok It works now :p :p :p
I din't reinstall windows nor the game.
I checked my software list, no virusscanner in there
I checked my start > all programm> and i found some remais of an disabled viruscanner i deleted the everything leading to the virus scanner
Reboot
Now its works Just Fine.
But should this game run with a virus scanner ? woulden't that be safer ???
mister gpgnet ?
Greetz smoker
ps now i still have some time to test this multiplayer s.h.i.t.

Ok, i think i know what most peoples problems are. Most antivirus's block the port needed, even if you turn them off. I uninstalled mine and it works like a charm now.

Its a crappy way to get online , but its worth it
shame for the people that designed this online interface
coz now it is scanner OR supcomGPG.
Lost of people will be displeased when they run into this error
i know 5 people who can't play it online i'm the only one that was able to make it work !!!
I hope they patch this issue very very soon , coz i can't play it with my friends online.
And i mean a manual patch coz they can't login (i hate autopatches)

I'm glad you got it to work! If you post the exact virus program you were using, that information may be helpful in the future. Thanks!

I do have the same symptoms (and that of a few aother threads in ths forum) and I suspect my Panda antivirus. It also blocks MediaPlayerConnect to stream MP3 files to other playback devices in the house - irrespective how many ports I open. But if I disable the firewall it works. But it makes no change to the GpGNet connectivty problem.
I am using Panda Internet Platinum Edition 2007. My symptoms are that the 1st connect after a reboot works, for about 2 minutes, then it times out. Future connects fail (with the CD-prompt, which seems a catchall error message for any connect problem - maybe a patch could give a specific error if its anything else than the CDkey-cryptoexchange checksum (or whatever) fail?). I think it might work again f I try the reconnect after a long while.
So - I am not running without the firewall. We've (its a family pc with more than one user/interests) been burned on keyloggers and other stuff. I might consider a different firewall if I was sure it was Panda causing my problems.

I can do some tracing to see what is happening. I notice that (according to Panda) that gpgnet uses port 1120 outbound and listens on 9103 inbound. I havent used the other (small, simple) tracers I've got, as I hope to get info from you what network activity is required.
In hopefull anticipation

In an act of shameless lust for online SupCom I completely uninstalled my Norton Antivirus, but it didn't help.
I can still play sporadically, but it's very tedious. As long as I click "join custom game" within 10 seconds or so of logging in, and quickly selecting a game to connect to, I'm left with about a one in five chance of actually getting to the lobby screen, and about a 50/50 chance of being able to connect to everyone. Once I'm connected, though, my ping is fine. If it times out at "attempting to join", I have to close down GPGnet completely, and restart it, at which point there's like a 1 in 3 chance I'll get an "invalid CD key" (which means relaunching again), and then once I'm actually connected there's a slim chance of a "patch failed, trying again" error which means I have to relaunch as well.
So it generally takes me a good 30 minutes of trying before I eventually get into a working game. Really hope something is fixed, as right now I'm too hooked on the game to just give up, but it's getting really frustrating.

Panda is NOT the problem! I formatted my intire disk ( was needed!). And the game did not work. now i have tested over 25 games who are never older thne 1 year and erevy one works. Now i have installed panda and still everythings works... i disabled panda but still nothing happens.
It is the way we have to connect! sometimes the firewall but in many cases it is just the program to connect! i checks every port to connect and everyone is open. None is blocked!

be sure your gpgnet shortcut is also installed on your desktop,
else you might be suffering from framework2-bugs that doesn't fully install the game.
I got good connection the moment i deleted my panda from my HD using its own deinstallation software.
make sure you haven't got extra firewalls running or spyware
25 games and a format ? how long did that take ??

Not that long. A format is done in 2 hours... 25 games = 3 hours... testing 3 hours.... and starting to hate GPGNET 19 hours...

For those of you who are using NOD32,
In IMON module put gpgnet.exe and supremecommander.exe into the exclusion and all will be well. You need to do that for BOTH exe's or it will keep kicking you off of gpgnet.
Yes, it's crappy, but as I recall the lead programmer for gpgnet didnt think this was their problem.

OK, I have the same exact problem as the first post in here, and probably more of you. I made my own topic too, but it hasnt gained any response. I thought I had fixed this issue, but it turns out I didnt. And there is NO way I am uninstalling my firewall just to make this work.
I already tried turning it off once and the problems still occured.... Does anyone have a fix for it?

this is an absolute nightmare, i can't connect to hardly any games whatsoever. i've forwarded all ports required by SupCom and still I can't connect to stuff all games. I even uninstalled my anti virus software[BitDefender 9 Pro] to see if it was that was the problem, nope, still can't connect.
The NATTrace report says I failed 4 tests. The 4 UDP tests.
very annoying, I WANT MULTIPLAYER SUPCOM!!
