Thanks. Glad to be back. I'll get you the info as I get it.

@CozyMachine

Don't worry. If either the demo or patch aren't going to happen, I'll be letting you guys know.

Thanks Jacob.

Looking forward to that info.

After yesterdays post, I didn't think we would hear from you again. I was wrong.

Dear Aspyr Jacob and dear all. I just want to tell you what I believe about SupCom 360 and why I believe that there will be no demo or patch.

* The game was planned to be released at the beginning of the year. The release was delayed in order to improve the quality. We now know what the quality problems were, they are still in the game. Perhaps, they were even bigger at the beginning of the year, and the brave guys at Hellbent did what they could do to fix them.

* After the announcement of the delay, no new release date was announced, until a few weeks of the actual release. Why? I believe that at some point, it was decided that the game will be released regardless of the problems. Maybe because it was clear that it was not possible to improve it further for the hardware of the 360, or that the effort would be just too high. But, it was not sure if the game would pass the Microsoft tests. After MS gave its ok, Aspyr could announce a date.

* The game was released three months ago, and still there is no demo. Does anyone still believe that there will be one? Obviously, Aspyr can not release a demo with such technical problems. Many people who would play the demo would not buy the game.

* I do not believe that there will be a patch because if the technical problems could be fixed, you would have already done it before the release. Again, maybe it is technically not possible to fix them. Maybe the effort would simply be to high. Maybe, the restrictions that exist for xbox patches do not allow it. I do not believe that it is possible to release a patch that refactors a game at a larger scale.

* Obviously, Jacob is not allowed to say that there will be no patch and no demo because it is not possible or economically justifiable.

These are just my thoughts. Maybe I am wrong, but they seem to be pretty obviously to me and just wanted to share them here.[/list]

I read long ago that there were no plans for a patch.... they said there was no need to rebalance anything. Unless you refer strictly to a balance patch?

Also, I just got this game through GameFly and it's pretty damn fun, but there isn't enough people online to play with, and no replay system  Uiniverse at War had 1.

All good points, but like you said, the effort might be too high, maybe the technical problems/bugs were being worked on before the full release, but seeing as Hellbent/Aspyr/whatever had already delayed the game 3 months, they decided they wouldn't keep us waiting any more. That said, Hellbent could have been working on fixing the problems, but told MS that once they had sorted all the issues, they would release the fixes in a patch, therefore MS gave the game the all-clear, knowing that it would be fixed in the future.
With the amount of 'might's and 'maybe's in that thar' post,I wouldn't call it a concrete option, but it's still a long winded possibility. :/

Microsoft allows developers to make one patch for free in order to discourage publishers from releasing buggy games and give them a chance to fix problems they absolutely couldn't fix before putting the game out the door. While I'm not expecting much from a patch, I would at least like to have the sound bug fixed and I can't imagine it would cost too much money for the developers to throw something together.

If they do make that patch, all it really needs to do is fix the sound glitch and some of the freezing issues people are reporting. I think that would satisfy a lot of the xbox players, especially if they can do it before the Euro launch.

And how. Sometimes I hate the UK for not being in America. :/

Still no news on the european release. I'm having the feeling its not coming out here at all, since supcom 360 kinda failed in the US (what else can you call it).

Check some websites then. SupCom is coming out over here in the UK on the 5th September.

Not sure why it's not up on their site, but they have made several announcements about SupCom.

Just yesterday they released a new group of screenshots: http://www.gamershell.com/news_58442.html

They also announced a fan site building contest: http://www.mcvuk.com/press-releases/397 ... RIS-TAYLOR

It looks like they have set up their home on the Web at http://www.supremecommander360.co.uk/ for everything Supreme Commander.

Still no official word to report about a demo or patch announcement. At this point, I understand the doubt surrounding any possible release of a demo, but it is not completely out of the question. We could still include the demo as part of an additional announcement about the game. I'll keep you guys posted.

I'm sure the greater concern at this point is the possibility of a patch. I know talks are still ongoing in that area. I'll be checking in when I can and know more.

Thanks again Jacob. I hope those 'talks' end with a favorable decision, especially if it is announced right around the time of ooohh.... say the Euro launch

I think the european launch will be seriously impacted unless the game is patched... which means a patch in the next 4 days. (unlikely) . The worst scenario here is that the game is slated by Euro magazines/reviews etc with the comment 'broken at launch in the US, and still broken now.'

Even if the level of 'broken' is minor.

It should have been fixed. Simple as that really. Which is why Im hanging onto my money.

A patch would be really nice, but im not expecting one.

I dont care either really, im DEFINATELY buying it even if it lags horribly and crashes :)

(I enjoy playing it on minimum graphics on a single core laptop with about 10fps lol).

In the UK it hasn't even been advertised. Hell I didn't even know it was coming since I looked on Gamespot at the begining of August

Yeah, not a single mention on XBL Marketplace. I was hoping the themes and gamerpics would come out by now.

Hello guys...

Dear Jacob... is there anything new to report about a patch?

BTW: I'm happy with the 360 Version... I have no option to play SupCom on a PC. The worse graphics and some lags in the Xbox Version are ok for me.

There's only one thing that really pisses me off... the freezes..

Sometimes I get a blackscreen... 80% when I try to save a game...

It would REALLY be great if Aspyr is going to fix that... for sure it would be nice, too if they could fix some of the lag Problems...

The Controls of the 360 Version are great... all put together on the small Controller... I like this.

Best regards,
Mike

@haumdaucher

Thanks for the note, Mike. I am glad to hear that you like the controls. Unfortunately, no, there's no news to report about a patch. At this point, I can't confirm that the game will not be patched...but I am sure you realize it seems unlikely at this point. I am not sure that the Euro launch has any affect on the decision.

The official word remains that there has been no decision. If that changes, I'll be sure to post here, and let everyone know. I definitely hate to leave everyone hanging on, but at this point, it's the best I can do as far as an answer goes.

@I badboyaj I

Not disappeared, just quiet. I wish I had news, good or bad, that I could give on the situation, but as I told haumdaucher, I have no updates...so I can give you no updates. I have backed off on posting here since I have nothing to add to the conversation. Please feel free to contact our technical support for any and all issues that you are experiencing with SupCom.

wow i must say im shocked and impressed at your return

perhaps you can clear somthing up for me jacob ?

its impossible to conclude that all of the developers were not aware of these issues before release considering how profound and regular they are

why was this game released in the state it is in ?

was microsoft aware of the games obvious flaws ?

and how can you guys allow a piece of your work wich im sure was very hard work to be left in this sort of condition
im no programmer but surely u people take pride in your work and i know from the past that this is not the usual quality of your titles

arnt you worryed that this fiasco could damage future prospects given the fact that alot of people are not happy about this and will probably think twice about buying another aspyr title

Alot of us feel ripped off we just want the game we payed a fair bit of our hard earned cash for fixed, and i for one dont think that its to mush to ask...?

Damit im just miffed about this its such a great game and the problems totally ruin it

i was hoping for a smooth game with possible map packs in the future

now its becoming painfully obvious that its just not gunna happen

i suppose the worst thing is, that you guys wont just give us a straight answer

even though we all know what it is
Your letting us live in hope for somthing thats never going to happen and thats just not on

I know I won't be buying another game with GPG, Hellbent, or Aspyr on the box again if this doesn't get patched. All parties involved more than earned a boycott.
