It is a very RPG-like game, and Chris Taylor has almost nothing to do with this game at all; it's being designed by John Comes AKA Scathis.

If true, this is unexpected, but I really don't mind that much.

Find your caps lock key. :)

There will be structure building. Not sure where you read there won't be any. With some Demigods building structures won't be emphasised.

Also remember Demogod is a team based action game, not an RTS game.

You know what else I heard? demigod wont have any capital letters in it. Thats right - your caps lock wont even do anything.

And the game also implements a grammar check - if your chat statement isnt grammatically correct, it wont be transmitted to other users.

This isn't a re-hash, a re-make, or a redo of any previous GPG game or even TA Kingdoms. Demigod is a completely new IP and a unique game that deserves to stand on its own merit. FYI it is a rpg/rts hybrid. So trust John Comes, Scathis, because he very well may be the next Chris Taylor.

BTW: The English language actually comes equipped with two (2) typefaces. One called capital, which I assume you are familiar with, that is traditionally used to denote the beginning of a new sentence. But, here's where it gets interesting. There's this neat little trick called lowercase that you can use with all your other letters. Not only does it make your text easier to read, but it keeps you from sounding like a whinny Internet brat.

Oops, getting a bit off-topic here aren't we :P

Anyways, the topic starter has a wrong idea of demigod. Read a bit more articles, and you will understand the comments here.

Yeah as in: The other day me and my friend Bill were getting our Tbag on, the competition was fierce, but it always is when you decide to do a little Tbag'ing.

I really hope these generals aren't pansies though.

I hope when you build a building you just choose what unit to make and they poor out, just a turn off/on thing. Maybe like a money drain and when those units kill things they gain money. If you want them to kill better and not stall with making units, you help them kill.(though that could make a snowball effect where the winning team wins easier which isn't nessiarily good..)

I hope you can't just build 500 units, then send them in one massive wave. They should be AI controlled imo, like npc units, but you just get money and xp from their kills. At the most you should be able to do things like decide the path they take(and likely change the path on the fly if one path is being pushed hardest, or to send them at less defended spot, but that's it pleaseeee!).

I hope they'll actually be getting in there and mixing it up, and not be pansies like i said.

It's already been mentioned that the general's units will be controllable.
The saving up units for one big wave can, I expect, only become a problem if the following are true:
-there is no or a relative high unit cap
-you can survive without sending in your units immediatly.

Rule one of Demi-God. THIS IS NOT DoTA. Get over it. This is exactly what happened with SupCom and people bitching about TA HAD THIS, GIMME!!!

Rule two, being a general and not being able to control units you build is utterly retarded. It's like training up an army and telling them, "**** it, just run around and shoot ****"... And that's not working in Iraq, so why should it work here? No one would play Generals.

Rule three, this is Scathis' game. And he's said himself that you have your head stuck on the idea of this being a pure DoTA game.

which brings us back to rule one.

na i'm not that crazy about dota, but it DOES have some good things.

And besides, where did I mention dota ANYWHERE in that post? I was speaking in general. So calm the hell down.

Why would you play generals if they just sat back by the castle? That sounds rather silly to me in this type of game.
Not to mention won't you get a reward for killing players that's much better than killing npcs? If generals work best being hidden back in the base then you lose that. Not to mention if there is some sort of scoreboard that list kills/deaths.

I would think of the units they make more as supplimation to the Demigod, not THE demigod. :/
Even if you can directly control the units and such, as I said, I hope the Generals aren't designed to be pansies.

And then theres the whole issue of balancing micro skill vs. macro zerging.

Generals have passive skills (auras) to support their units and I'd say these skills have a limited area of effect. So the general will need to be with his troops for highest efficiency. Maybe he won't be in the frontline but more in background, that's what generals usually do.

Not being able to control the units would actually imbalance the game, as they are part of the general. The general himself will be rather weak and he needs the support of his troops, as they need him to be effective. So you can consider the general and his units as one (very flexible) "unit". Thus you are able to fully control this "unit", as you have complete control as an assassin, too, which means both are balanced in terms of controllability.

Uncontrolled general-units would only be a better cannonfodder for assasines. What makes these units dangerous is their controllability. It allows more complex strategies and tactics. This is what makes the difference between assassines and generals.

I assumed they might have auras and stuff but i wasn't completely sure, hadn't noticed anything said about it.

I can understand the having direct control over units though, so long as Generals aren't pansies. :)

i think generals units are supposed to be considerably supirior over teh average grunt, more like mini demigods than actual drones. you will prbably see relatively few units per general, but quite strong.

thats just my thought on it, seems it would make sense that way in keeping Demigod different from FA.

because if generals just turn pout to by fantasy ACUs that spam t1 grunts then i will be greatly dissapointed, but i seriously doubt thats the way scatghis will do it.

i also doubt that generals will be pansies, have u seen the concept art for the oak? he looks like more of an assassin than the rook!

so yeah, my guess is that the generals units will more or less be liek augmentations to his own firepower in the form of independant unit, instead of in the form of new skills and stronger attacks like the assassins

I would think it'd add more variety if some Generals specialize in hordes of units(though not as many as supcoms, largely because i want to actually have friends of mine be able to play this), some in big ones almost as strong as a demigod, one might specialize in flying units and little ground options(a little RPS element in the selection) and some have a good mix and less risk..

All Demigods are superior to the little grunts. But a horde of grunts can be a very compelling assault force against a Demigod.
