Quote: Great tool and works fine except for replays and Editor (can't find cclean.exe and cmax.exe, while it works by starting game normal?!? as mentioned), clearly it is not your fault, but anyway I would like to mentioned it.
To make it work in replay, use absolute path when you edit the lua.
Due to the limitation of lua, you have to use double slashes and 8.3 DOS format, for example:
os.execute("start C:\\Progra~1\\THQ\\GasPow~1\\Suprem~2\\bin\\cclean.exe ForgedAlliance.exe high")
os.execute("start C:\\Progra~1\\THQ\\GasPow~1\\Suprem~2\\bin\\cmax.exe")
In fact you can put both exe files anywhere you want, just write the path accordingly and they should work.
As for the crashing problem, I have no clue what could be the cause. Personally I have never experienced any crash nor bluescreen after using this program. However, I don't start game exe before using GPGnet becasue GPGnet will start the game exe for me. I think that's how it should be?

so does this work with hyperthreaded single core processors? I'm assuming so but I'm at work and can't actually try it...

Ok, what I meant to say was: If I start exe for Sandbox, or LastGame-replay close it and after that would like to join a game over GPG-Net it will probably crash into bluescreen...
After the replay doesn't work "fix", I've noticed that there are many problems:
I got bluescreens for tabing (Alt,TAB) out of game(replay) for example. In other words, if FA is called from GPG-Net it is very unstable and likely crash into bluescreen. While with starting exe it works fine and well stable. (?)
To bad I like your tool very much, but there seams to be something on my pc which causes a lot of trouble.
I've got a Memron Core and RightMark CPU Clock Utility is working in background (But with disabled/closed Utility I've got also BS).

Is this better than the regular core optimizer? I can't handle this slow sim speed. I've been using Sorain's AI, two @250, but I hear 1 at 500 is a lot harder so I might try that.
I have a QX9650 @ 3.5Ghz, pretty sure it is not all be used at the moment.

You should upgrade from the 8800 if you can, I have the QX9770 and it takes World Map and over an hour for me to get a noticeable sim slow down. I also have a pair of 3870X2's in crossfire X and 4 gigs of Corsaire Dominator DDR3 under Vista64.
Of course, if you are playing with others who have lower-end computers this could be the problem too.

Woah. A 1 year minus 3 day necro.
Should've waited those extra 3 days, then none would have been the wiser.

sorry for this but i didn't understand this part:
2. Find SupComDataPath.lua in the same folder, back it up, turn off read-only, then add these to the end of file:
os.execute("start cclean.exe ForgedAlliance.exe high")
os.execute("start cmax.exe")
i got to uncheck read only but after that i'm stumped...

Core Maximizer is fully automatic after you put it in the start menu. All the utility needs to do is make the game use both cores, and that is what it does.
Okay, after following the link... The original poster is talking about adjusting process priorities. I have a lot of experience with that. In fact, I have a utility called "Prio" that enhances the Task Manager, to allow for saving priority adjustments. My experience playing with process priorities suggests that it is mostly voodoo. The idea that increasing the priority of your game and decreasing the priority of another process will make your game run faster is cute but not realistic. If your game is getting enough CPU time (games usually do), what matters is the processing power of your CPU (its speed and number of cores).
Anyway... good luck and have fun.

Use text editor like notepad to open it and add the lines.

It works with the original core maximizer, and it opens that for you automatically.

Somebody provided an idea, and I made a tool for it. Theoretically it helps if you have a lot of other processes going on, but I don't have solid proof and I won't guarantee that it'll always make your game run better. You don't need to use it if you're not seeing any improvement.

Excellent patch… works very well to improve game speed with seamless auto function.
*Recommended*
We play 1000unit limit against 1aix @1.4cheat on up to 20x20 size maps with quite acceptable –3 or better game speed. Faster on smaller maps.
- skype is the only other app in mem(team chat)
- less than 20 services running on XP pro 32bit
- sorian FA AI 2.0
- we often play with ‘no air’ restriction for better gameplay
- medium graphics, no shadows and no AA
Mine is the slowest of four computers:
Q6600@ 3.0GHz, 2Mb800MHz, 8800GTS, WD Raptor
well done and thanks

Necro I know but blegh. Anyone know if this works on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit? I now have an i7-3960x (6 core). I used to use this program back on my old machine, wondering if it will still work on my new one to help Supcom utilise some of its power.

I can't tell from the posts if there is a significant performance gain. Is this even worth installing?

I would not recommend this program, sincw reading this thread and the problems folks encountered does not inspire confidence.
There is another more popular program called core maximizer, which supposedly will make FA utilize the cores more efficiently. However, I have not noticed any performance increase myself when using it. I just play it as is without trying to use any sort of program to make it more optimized for multi-core.

It should do that as its still using the same exe file but its in another location. Don't know if someone has modified it so that it works with the faf fa game version
