Newest game i bought was C&C Tiberium Wars the week it came out. No issues. New cards are $250-$350. To run a $39.00 game. Doesn't make good sense to me.

Nice to know you wote out all but a hanfull of video cards the game is useless to me. Need a refund! Looks like a good game if it would run, listening to comments post it will not run on much of anything. Not going to buy a new card to run one game. Need refund! What do i have to do to get it? Stores do not refund software. I don,t want to pay shipping for a product that doesn't work!

Indeed, but no Bullshit. Your card is a DirectX 8 card (all the Radeons from 8500 to 9250 are DirectX 8. See here for detailed information). So you could have known before you bought the game.

Actually good cards for AGP are available for under 200 bucks.

What Spooky said. The 9250 is similar to the GeForce FX range of cards in that they are Dx8 cards with support for only a part of the Dx9 specification.

You may get the game to work by using the novalidate modifier. Add " /novalidate" to the end of your SupCom shortcut target (right click on your shortcut icon, select properties and add " /novalidate" to the end of the path without the quote marks). All the novalidate does is stop SupCom checking for system requirements. it means the card might run, but no guarantees on how well or its stability - it's still below the minimum requirements for the game.

And in the UK we can pick up a passable AGP card for about £60, so in the US you should be able to get something for under $100

Actually, laptopers may be safe to play in the not too distant future:

I looked and looked for ways and I finally found one haha. I guess it was already supposed to be released, but as always it hasn't been released "on time" lol. Still an interesting and hopeful solution to all those "OMG I CANT UPGRADE MY LAPTOP GRAPHICS" people, like me.

You'd have to lug around a monitor with that setup though.

my laptop is a sager 9260

CORE 2 DUO E6420 2.13 GHz 4MB---Does this mean i get a combined ghz of 4.28??? Sorry i dont understand these lol.

2048GB DDR2 800 (2 DIMMS)

nV GeForce Go 7950 GTX w/512M

I run this game on max resolution and max settings no problem but late in the game it begins to slow down when i zoom down on the bases. Im guessing that this is a CPU issue as this game is so CPU reliant. I run the SupCom Core maximizer and i do feel like im getting better performance out of the laptop. I dont think this is a graphics issue because it runs flawlessly other than the times that its late in the game and i zoom on the bases. I came up to this conclusion when i made a few tests on 4 vs 4 maps with AI as allys and opponents. What do you guys think?

Heh, no. I means you can run two things at 2.13ghz, not one thing at 4.26 :p

No, you can't. It's a DirectX 8 card and won't work at all with Supreme Commander. If you use /novalidate, you'll probably see just a white screen in game.

I think it is showing right below the 8800 GTS on the chart. I'm not sure if it is equal to a 7950GX2 like it shows there, though. I've not had any of the 7 series Nvidia cards.

I have an Nvidia GeForce 8600GTS and it is about 10 times more powerful than my last video card (Nvidia Quadro NVS 285). At its slowest, it is still 5 times more powerful. I did the supcom perftest before and after and compared the FPS line (minimum, maximum, average).

With 1440x900 (single screen mode), I can have all settings turned up to max and get a solid 20 to 30 FPS (CPUs are dual Xeon 5130).

It's probably the best single component upgrade I've ever purchased in terms of improvement over the prior component.

As far as the 8600 goes, depends who you ask as to where it sits on the table.

I've said in a previous post - I'm not going to keep updating it with every single revision and edition of card - there are simply too many and it would make the table a mess to try and decipher.

Kakashi - the 200M is below minimum requirements to the best of my knowledge. oyu may want to try the novalidate option outlined in the original post. Failing that, a fresh driver and Direct X install as per my signature links please.

Loky - You may find that upgrading the video card in your laptop is impossible. Many of them are hardwired in and have no space for expansion cards.

I was actually able to get the game to run with a Radeon 8500. I don't think that should be in the red given that, well...it ran.

I just bought a new computer.
Yesterday played supcom non-patched. Everything worked well game run smoothly. But after patching it says "please verify video hardware meets minimum specifications. Please ensure system has current video drivers."

I have Ati Radeon x1650se.

E: Okay got it working. Should have earched the forums.

You need to make sure you have it typed exactly right.

The target line in the shortcut needs to read:

Code:
"c:/blah/blah/blah/SupremeCommander.exe" /novalidate

Obviously, change the blahs for the actual path you installed to.

So, I reinstalled SupCom after destroying AVG which was constantly deleting the exe file for SupCom, and now that it's updated it says my video card does not meet minimum requirements, which is plainly bullshit. I updated my drivers, and it still says the same thing. Hardware acceleration is full, card is working correctly, no problems, except with SupCom.
