Does anyone know if this PCI card will work without a hitch?

BFG Tech BFGRPHYSX128P PhysX Processing Unit 128MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Physics Card

Here's a link for more specifics... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814143055

Let me know. I'm just looking for a PCI card that will make this game run real smoothly.

Err, that's a PhysiX card. SupCom has no support for PhysiX hardware acceleration.

And are you sure you can only put a PCI card in your system? No AGP slot?

To tell u the truth im not sure. As of now i have a nvidia geforce fx5500 PCI. There's only that one slot for a graphics card. All im looking for is a PCI card that makes SupCom run really well.

Anyone have one of the new Radeon 2900 series cards? They look like they just might have a shot at being better than the Nvidia GeForce 8800 cards.

http://ati.amd.com/products/radeonhd2900/specs.html

I'd be interested to know where they line up on this chart of cards for SupCom.

krnfoo,

I went looking to see what was out there for PCI. I think you're not going to find one that runs it "real smooth", but you can find some that will run it better than your current card.

Here are some that I found:

Radeon X1300
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814129069

Radeon X1550
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814161074

There are other ones of those same model that cost less. There are also a few Nvidia 6200 cards, but I'm not sure how those stack up.

the PCI video card list:

Hey thanks a lot for all of your help. But I just decided to get a new computer alltogether  lol it was time for an upgrade anyways. I hated only being able to use PCI all the time. Cant wait for my new comp... 2 day shipping ftw!

So now I'm trying to get an upgrade but i was wondering which cards would work. Note that I can only put a PCI card into my computer not a PCI express. Yeah i kno, its annoying. Lemme know!

thanks!! :P

open up a new thread then ppl will answer your question

as for it now, you can't upgrade anything. there are no more cards for pci made, I believe the FX5500 is the last one. You are probably going to need a new mobo, new memory, new processor, and a new videocard if you want to run this game.

Yeah, the 9250 is just a 9200 card witha couple of extra bells and whistles. not fully Dx9 compatible.

M2M - there were actually quite a few later model PCI cards shipped. They're getting increasingly difficult to get hold of though. Even AGP is getting more difficult, and that postdates PCI by a good few years.

Interesting. I'll update the table later. Been bogged down at work, so when I get a chance I'll sort it.

There was a malfunction with the GeForce7900 so all card stop working in 2 weeks. Get an 7950 instead. (and i think the 7900 will play SupCom  )

I kind of stopped putting every different revision of the higher end cards on, as it was getting a bit silly :D It's usually pretty straightforward to work out where they all go.

I think you should put in big red letters that the Geforce 7 series are causing crashes.

it just pisses me off that ppl have lower end Graphic Cards are getting better preformance than mine which in the guide is green (ati x1400) yes you all can laugh about it (esspecially those with low end cards) but truth is this game is too much problem filled that i don't even know where they did wrong (looks like their 200 test machine was not good enough to iron out the problem or could it be just because of the new technology they put into the game causing the problem). My honest opinion, new technology only win best awards if the games works without a hitch (e.g. Warcraft 3). I rather have a good problemless game against a state of art technology game with problem any day. (Just a friendly reminder to those game developer to not to over do it). Well good luck to the developer in fixing this mess, prolly disabling some of the new features might help the game.

Final reminder, Starcraft did not have the latest technology installed back then with C & C leading they way back then but yet it was Starcraft that won the game of the decade and still people are crazy over it still ( a regular competiton game in WCC does tell it's value). So go figure guys.

Thank for all the effort put into this game by everbody (even the fans who tried to give developers a helping hand by reporting their problem) but i really don't think this game cut it. Sorry.

I am looking to spend the least amount possible but not have to upgrade for a while. I want to be able to run this thing with no problems on good settings. I can spend more if I have to, but. Ya know. Anyway. I have no idea what the cooling system is on this computer. I bought it from a friend who knows computers. And my roomate whos a nerd jokingly calls it a refrigerator. two huge fans on the back with tubes running through and water cooled. Two case fans 1 on top 1 on side and the normal 1 in the back. Bought the cpu for 500 bucks. fill me in, it's all greek to me but I'm trying to learn.

you answered your own cooling system already.
quote:

In the world i've only seen 3 types of cooling system.
1. air cool (using fan)-most peopleare on this
2. liquid cooling (or water cooling system)-some use this to reduce the fan sound more than anything (your on this).
3. air conditoned cooling system (this is the real refrigerator)-this is a customised system where they actually put a air compressor into your casing...plus they need to hack your casing.....very expensive (around 500-600 us dollar)...not to mention you'll need different power supply than a regular pc's....there goes another 300 usd. the entire pc system will cost about 6k usd. (you could buy a used car with that money)

as for grahic card, no advice as even the best graphic cards are having problem with this game......my advice, if you can play the game with your existing card, don't change anything till they iron out the graphic card problem. (just live without those eye candy if you have to.)
