Only if the missile were faster to build; I don't see how it could get much faster though, as SCU support can bring it down to a very reasonable four minute missile build time, which currently is enough time to build a missile before the first one hits it's far off target.
If they sped up the upgrade anymore it'd be un-usable. With the Tech 2 Engineering Suite currently, the ACU upgrades in 8 minutes with a cost of -250 mass. That's a huge cost, and you really can't start the upgrade until you have +250 mass incoming. The Stonager however, you can start building with ~+50 mass incoming, and then add additional builders as your economy increases, netting you an overall faster build time.

Yes, give it a try while it lasts, so you can sign the petition I'm sure I'll end up making post-patch to re-instate the Billy. I'm just waiting for now to see how it actually performs before I go about starting a revolt.

I tried it out, and wasn't that impressed. Of course, it could have just been the conditions in which I tried it. I had to beg people not to leave so I could try it out, even though I had 5 times the whole other team's score. ah well, it wasn't that incredible. Maybe in a stalemate it would be more useful.

Take a look at some of my replays; that particular game we were playing wasn't so good, but I've had some on Isis where getting through their defenses any other way would've been a total slaughter. Just do a search for keyword Billy.

I'm concerned... will Billy still have a minimum range of 5? Cus if it is now a "normal" nuke, and it has a range of 5...
I can see it now.
STRATEGIC LAUNCH DETECTED

Hehe just tried Billy... it was awesome!
One of those 30 min build up games (thought id give one a try... wasnt really my kinda game in the end). I got my *** handed to me by a swarm of Broadswords and of the 4 way FFA there was an obvious leader... so just as all was lost i left him, his mavor and some other expensive things a parting gift
The first reaction was priceless

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your view), units can't damage themselves. Which means that at range 5, your ACU survives the nuke he fires. The only possible way I can think of that being useful, given the time required to fire the missile and have it hit anyway, is if you transported your ACU to his base, overcharged his SMD, and then fired it.

Huh... I thought you said in one of your original posts about Billy that he was capable of blowing up your own commander, because of the range of 5. Guess either that changed, or you had something disprove it, either way, it's still annoying that he is becoming a strategic nuke, when he should stay tactical.
Though, will the underwater firing of Billy still exist? I mean, I seriously hope that stays... *prays*

That did change; I wasn't broadcasting the issue because it could be exploitive; I did submit a bug report to GPG and posted it in the tech forums though, so it's not like the info wasn't available.

Funky, I gotta say, with them changing Billy, to whatever it is gonna be now... I think you should receive an award, for making us know the values of Billy, since without you, many of us would never know what secret it held.

NOOOOO bring back billy! It honestly wasn't OP, or an exploit, or anything bad. It could EASILY be taken out with TMD. And besides it took up the shield spot, which was very risky, added some depth to the game. And you had about ten minutes from when they launched to when it hit to build them. If they make it into a nromal nuke they might as well remove the upgrade entirly and give the UEF something else, it would be utterly worthless. Many people have complained that there is no way to make a comeback late game if your eco isn't as runaway as theirs, Billy was a wonderful way to do that if you had the chance, and your oppenent was dumb. I had one game where if my Broadsword attack had failed I would have used Billy, after the game(my 100 Broadswords got him, oh yea) I looked at his base and told him about Billy, and it would have worked. It is a wonderful surprise way to attack people and make a good move.
As others have said it is not like there have been ANY billy nerf requests. I can't think of there ever being even one. So I don't get why GPG did this...
Funky, count me in about a petition for bring back Billy . I don't get why they changed it, a detailed explanation at the very least would be nice.
Save Billy!

Consider that the 70k tactical missile has a large risk factor since you would need your ACU on the front.

Have you ever even seen one?
Even calling it a tactical missile is a bit of a misnomer ...
Sure its a tactical missile ... an incredibly slow tactical missle with a giant glowing Nuke icon ...
