Hello community

Because of OK and Brandon the thread CHANGED :shock:

I am presenting you a mod project, which I called Neophage: The beginning.
It will feature completely new units and should be a faction mod.
(Brandon warned me that most faction mods died).
But look at it as a "project", not directly a mod. It is a tryout and I will try to complete it. Don´t be too sure that it will be released (I say this, before you feel, I will let you down)

Basicly it will have this:

- New faction
- New units
- fancier explosions (more realistic)
- New types of units
- new weapon system

These are the 3 screens I can provide. They are still WIP:

Unfortunately, there is just no point to a thread like this. There are only a handful of active modders left, all of which post what they are working on to some extent in their threads, all of which are probably on the first half of teh first page here already.

You're best bet is to just turn this into your 'Mod Thread' and keep it updated.

Like I said, you could turn this into your mod thread, it's not so much that you can't or shouldn't share, as much as doing it in the right fashion. ;p

OK is right for a change. Why not make this into a Mod thread? Im sure that the community, or whats left of it, Will openly welcome a new mod :D

I like the logo on top of the tank, although it doesn't seem to have a Cybran presence. The resemblance to a paw print is a nice touch :)

If you haven't yet come up with an idea, I suggest maybe make the faction of the Renegade type, i.e., elements from all 4 factions, seeing as this is what you're aiming for with regards to the logo. It wouldn't be a mish-mash of units from all 4 factions, but rather contain design and play-style elements from all 4 factions.

Thx for the support. I didn´t think it would get that much support :D . Like I said, it is a secret :mrgreen: . I will leak more and more information as I pass several development steps. I will keep posting screens and new features.
I hope I can show you the new unit type as fast as I can.

Quick update:

Notice: I don´t have a lot freetime atm, but this will be resolved in a few days.

I tried to place the ship ingame, whether it works or not.

- The normalmaps and specmaps aren´t placed correctly yet.

- Turret and weapon mechanics have to be implemented.

- Basic movement is possible

Should be between tech 2-3. I´m not sure.

@All: Somehow I ravaged my specteam. It won´t work. It´s just plain white. I tried a lot of solutions, but it didn´t work. A question therefore for you all: Has Supcom:FA a cache or something like that?

ya fa has a texture cache, they are loaded on game start up, if you change a texture you will have to restart the game completely to see the changes,

Thx for the answer. I solved the problem. Somehow, the engine doesn´t like converted psd files. Don´t save a dds from a brand new psd file. Open up an existing dds file, scale it up, erase it and change it to your liking. Thereafter it works. Weird... :lol:

In case anyone else is working on their own faction (or thinking about it), have a look at this. It's a mod I made a long time ago that makes it possible to have more than 1 new faction.

Well, there are no real news at the moment. Still university is taking my precious time, but I have written down some new unit schematics. The ship only have to get a new weapon and the turrets should be properly adjusted to the code.
