Yup, today that's me:

I sank 80 empire points into lucky chests. Already wanted to quit after the first 4 were all 1 coin sacks... :P
I think I'll keep it for good luck - at least for the time being.

Have you been lucky lately? Tell your story.

Quite the opposite. From the beta, i was quite determined that empire points were not very useful (my opinion, leave it that way). So, I have sunk just about every empire point I have earned into the "Lucky" Chests. Haven't gotten any epics yet and only few rares. Typical me.

Nice! The chances of getting that are 0.32%.

Of course, let me know when you get the 25,000 one :)

OMG, are the chances that low? You probably won't believe it, but I already got the 5000 coins three times and I bought less than 50 chest I think. had I bought and sold the advisors, as it was suggested in the Wiki, I would have only gotten 2500c.

I have seen people post links to the 10,000c bag, not the 25,000 yet though. Bring it on empire shop! :D

PS: I really kept the first bag of coins for good luck... :3

I hate you... I have spent every empire point (minus maybe 200) that I have pulled in and have yet to get an epic and only have gotten 6-5 rares.

Well, I have little luck with gear so far. I have spend an entire 2 hours grinding chest in a quest that I like (each run takes like 3 minutes for one chest). I found a couple of nice rare resources but only one rare item. I'm trying to use one of the Cyprus quest now to farm some chests and at last I found one epic item. Not sure if I should keep it or sell it atm. I should probably try to get to level 40 before I grind further. The drops I get are only 30+ items.

Tip if you want to farm chests: Go to Cyprus and find a quest where you start with a couple of units (makes it faster). Avoid all contact with the AI and try to find a guarded hut that you can attack without getting attacked by the AI. Move all your troops there and get that chest.

Doesn't work all the time but in 2 out of 3 you can get your hands on one or even two huts. Make sure you set the difficulty to epic and restart the quest when you got all the chests you can grab. It takes a couple of minutes longer but you can get some loot without facing the epic AI if you are careful. That's important since most of my gear doesn't allow for a head-on confrontation...

Oh, dont get me wrong, I get tons of rare gear from chests and epics are "occasional." Im just referring to the Lucky Chests you buy with empire points.

Also, I hate grinding. I play a mission, I play it til the end (or bitter end) lol.

The problem is that we have played a lot of Defense of Crete and while that raises your level the loot is useless. Stronger buildings won't help me to defeat most regular missions. Right now the only way to win high level missions for me is to dig in behind walls and towers and slowly build up a huge force with age IV troops. So I need a way to make up for my missing gear on troops without rising in level too much. I don't like the grinding one bit...

Isnt that the strategy anyways? Except for the walls part, the level 30-40 missions are all almost impossible without age 3/4 tech and full blacksmith upgrades, even with the half decent gear I had...

Yes. By comparison, the 25k has a 0.0106% chance - so the 5k is 30x more likely than the 25k.

I only need the age IV upgrade for my ballistas, otherwise I rely completely on hoplites and priests. In most missions I will just quickly build walls, some additional guard towers and then ill rush 10+ priests to convert attacking units. It's surprisingly effective. I only need two dozen hoplites to block cavalry and tank arrows. The ballistas will deal major damage to towers, city centers and groups of units.

First I tried archer spam but you lose too many units as soon as you leave your own walls behind you - unless you spam ridiculous amounts. I prefer ballistas because they have more range, can deal with buildings and do splash damage. You can flatten a whole base in a minute without losing more than a couple of hoplistes. Well, getting to age IV is of course crazy expensive.

Eric, are you sure you didn't forget to put the percent into the formula? :D I was incredibly lucky...

Speaking of lucky, how rare are epic advisors really? I found so many that I can hardly decide which ones to use anymore. Right now I have 8, after selling one this morning. I swear, when I touch the keyboard an epic advisor starts climbing into a chest. I ain't complaining... :3

Yesterday Paceydre and I start a Crete mission - epic advisor... I start Renegades, campfire close to spawn - epic advisor. I play the last campaign mission - you know the drill... xD

For 1000 coins I let you hover over my lucky coin bag in the trade dialogue, maybe it helps.

Just to show you what I mean with: I need a larger inventory:

Image

Please disregard the lower right corner where I keep items that sell for several thousand gold in the trade channel and the blueprint of Moe's and other very rare buildings. That's what I mean with limestone is hard to come by btw, I just can't build all the stuff I find. And who can afford to buy limestone constantly... :)
