Only on the campaign did I ever see that number rise to 250. At first i figured that upon completion of the game i would be able to at least use 250 units, but to no avail i was stuck with 200.

Even on skirmish, and online!! c'mon, in supcom we had a max of 500. At least give us 300, hell ill even settle for 275.

And what's with the unit cap increase for building structures? I think it would be only fair if certain buildings were not include in the unit cap.

Unless of course they can defend them selfs. Lets take the power generator for instance (minus the illuminate, seeing as how it can defend it self).to me this should not increase unit cap, nor should research stations or mass extractor.(unless your the uef, with structures updated).

I just want to kno why? Is it because it would make the game lag? I need some answers, any would be appreciated. thanks.

The unit cap is not for balance - it's to prevent games for eating up all the RAM and crashing. Buildings consume memory and processor time too.

I really don't understand why the unit cap is lower than Sup1 - the PC version has lower specs. than the original and it still has the 1,000 unit limit.

Maybe 512MB of RAM is just too little. I have eight times that in my PC, and that's considered below standard for gaming computers.

Couldn't the Xbox 360's hard drive be used as a sort of virtual memory to take the load off that 512Mb it has?

The problem is that not everyone has a hard drive. The old models have only 512 MB of storage space, some of which is used by the OS and other content. So if that was possible, you would have a situation where some players would be able to play larger games than other people.

XBox 360 HDs are formatted in FAT32, like some USB flash drives. Vista allows for ReadyBoost, so it should be possible technically, but I think it's more of a software issue rather than a hardware one.

You are correct but, what about the arcade sku with it's additional 256Mb of memory built in? Can this not be used as well?

@Bulletmagnet. I as well do not understand why the unit cap is lower then supcom1.

I know it was laggy at times, but i dont recall supcom1 ever crashing on 360(for me at least  )even with 2000 units moving!(online of course).
