Why does the Universal Colossus just looks like a buggier GC with a fancier model? I thought it was supposed to get new weapons or something...

No, the only thing that changed is, that it can throw units back and not just kill them in his hands. But apparently that wasn't implemented yet.

http://www.avaultpodcast.com/ has an interview with Chris Taylor available via their podcast (Episode #46). Fast forward around 15mins in to skip the irrelevant stuff. Just a heads up!
" Happy Birthday Dreamcast! Episode 46’s guest, is Chris Taylor, CEO of Gas Powered Games. Chris stopped by and shared some knowledge about the future of Supreme Commander 2, Square Enix, and working with the Japanese. In addition to the interview, this week’s conversation explores, Guitar Hero 5 vs.The Beatles: Rock Band, Batman Arkham Asylum, and All Aspect Warfare vs. Battlefield 1943."

They cut Chris off just as he was about to describe the economy in more detail.

Ha! Seems Sorian got his Supcom 2 weapon concept into the Cybranzilla. Good for you Sorian! Robotic Dinosaurs with Guns never felt so right.

Hopefully they'll take the best of Seraphim and Aeon and drop the rest, mixing it up with some SupCom2 freshness.

Im guessing they just started working on naval since this screen shot took so long to make. Also the water and the ship looks so one sided. Never the less its still in alpha I hope it would change alot from release. Its always good to see some progress.

What I like most of it, is that the image shows that we will definetely have hills, something that has been questioned by many. The assumption of a lack of hills was a criticized by many as well. However, we can be relieved!

Hang on, I'm a little lost.
If what I can gather is correct, tech levels have been abolished, and basic units like tanks become the equivalent of T2/T3 units through upgrades, and are still used in the late game?
If so, I like the sound of it. :D

So you like the fact they've done away with a big part of what makes SupCom SupCom?

It's not a big part, compared to other things like the simulation (especially the simulation), infinite resources, elaborate and infinite queuing systems, strategic zoom, massive amounts of units, experimentals and big and heavy weapons.

... when you put it that way...
I find it to be a defining thing like what you listed. With RTS games like Halo Wars and CnC3:KW you only need to throw up a building of some sort then *poof* a big tank or a bi/tri-pedal walker of pain. With SupCom you have to give your ACU a better left (I can't quite remember off the top of my head) arm or upgrade a factory. The fact that units get like twice as big with the tiers, until T4 which is like fifty-fold, and more menacing is one thing that I really liked.

Well, that's still the case. Instead of building factories with a certain Tech, you unlock new tech (i.e. bigger units) in the tech tree.
Sure it was a defining thing of SupCom and TA. But it was one of many things. Of course different people like different aspects of the game more, but still, I doubt that anyone that liked SupCom before would still want to play SupCom if it still had the flow bases resource system and the old tech system, but none of the other stuff.

I certainly hope a new video will come out soon. Would be really interesting to see how it evolved since E3.
