Hello. Problem is old but still don't have a solution. My comp: Win XP SP3 P4 2,8GHz nVidia 9600GT 500Mb 2 Gb RAM - DS2VideoConfig - don't recognize VideoCard. Even after i add lines in nVidia section: Code: [device*] { name = "GeForce 9600GT"; device_ids = 0x0622; }
Yes, it stopped show me a nag window that my video card is tooooo bad, but in drop-down list still only one line: "Primary videodrive -hardware T&L" ...in game it sucks. 2-5 fps in starter battles. Disabling all enhancement - didn`t help. Where should I write by hands (in registry or some where) what card I have and teach DS2 to USE IT!!!... In DungeonSiege2.ini after DS2VideoConfig.exe in first line written "Primary videodrive -hardware T&L". BUT after I ran DS2 and quit from it, the line contain "NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT"...but it didn`t help the game. Guys, I don`t know what to do. At Radeon 9600 it ran like rocket (30-40 fps).

@Briahas: There are a couple of valid ids for 9600GT cards, also typo errors may happen - but i guess you have checked this!? If not there would be a possibility to recheck it. Usually this works without any other manual changes. So good luck!

Yep, I've seen that page and did all what they propose. Didn't help. I even took out from garbage my old nVidia 6600GT (ID 0x0140) and install patch 2.2 ver, where added 6xxx series lines in system_detail_2.gas. Still - DS2VideoConfig doesn't recognize it and - 24 fps in town, - 16 fps in wilderness, - 4 fps in multiplayer. I'm out of ideas. Help guys. --- PS. maybe in my system something is wrong? I installed new Direct X 9c and 257.21 nVidia drivers. Didn't help. What functions it use that my system doesn't have? PPS:This is my DS2VideoConfig screen (I have cyrillic system) http://www.image123.net/w4ol3bga7yvdpic.html any way - you may see that program write under dropdown list:" Discovered: nVidia GeForce 6000 series". But in dropdown list only " bla-bla-bla..TnL" line. I'm sure than my card is in list (0x0140) - DeviceID.exe said it. Code: Name NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT ID PNP-device PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0140&SUBSYS_040310B0&REV_A2\4&367BEAB0&0&0008 Adapter Type GeForce 6600 GT, NVIDIA-совместимый Adapter description NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT Adapter RAM 128,00 Mb (134 217 728 байт) Installed drivers nv4_disp.dll Drivers version 6.14.12.5721
Out of ideas.

as far as I could understand you suggest to run dxdiag. I ran it. No problems found. Any ideas?

So. I have some light here - I've downloaded official eng version (instead of official localized that I used before) - and what a surprise(!) - it has no bugs with fonts, and at my home PC (Core2Duo, 9600GT) it gives me constant 40-70 fps (contrary to 15-30 fps in localized).
But, at my work PC (2,8 GHz Pentium, 9600GT) it still has 10-20 fps (although, picture seems to be a little bit nicer)
... sooooo, russian localization - to the hell. We'll try today in multiplayer eng version and I'll write back later.
See you!

Hello again. So the results are: my friend, with Radeon 75xx video card, was a server and we played both with 14-20 fps. It's better then 4-15fps I had before.
But nevertheless, I dont get it - why in single it run better at Radeon75xx then on Nvidia 9600?

Now, about DS2VideoConfig. Why, after I added my Videocard ID in the system_detail.gas, it still don't show it in drop-down list ? (although, it wrote under the drop-down field "Hardware detected....." So, I think, DS2VideoConfig tests some functions with Videocard and if it doesn't receive an answer it doesn't add a line in drop-down list with Videocard name. But WHAT Function IS IT? PS. maybe they use non directX function? maybe some old OpenGL function that doesnt supported in new Vids?

Hey Briahas,
Try holding down left control or left shift while the game is starting up and loading the menus. One of those summons a selection window that should allow you to select cards currently detected on your computer independent of the game itself.
