I was trying to replace some of my templates and found out that you can't redo numbers 7 and 8. So I went into the hard drive and found the Preferences file (Pref.something) and deleted it which deleted all my templates. Since I've done this I haven't had any of the other issues.

I think that somehow this file get corrupt so when it tries to save your stats at the end of each game it cause those issues. I used to get the black screen after every single game now I haven't granted only played a few last night but so far so good.

You know that preferences file? That's all your stats and options.

Deleting that (or getting it corrupted by the game) will remove all your ACU Kills, Wins, control settings etc.

I guess when it gets too big it just crashes the game.


On a side note, interesting how I have the achievement for completing all the campaigns on hard, yet I have not got the achievement for completing them on all difficulties.

I can live without the stats as long as the game actually plays.

I have the same issue with the achievements. I have the one for completing everything one hard but not the one for completing UEF on hard....

Just an FYI, this has worked for me. I have played a bunch since deleting the file and I haven't frozen once. I used to freeze almost every single game, now I have no issues.

And now the data in your preferences file will add up until it freezes the game again. You are going to have to delete is quite a lot.
