I get a very distinct impression he's sitting in his Evil Overlord's Lair, cackling while taking the credit for GPG's hard work. >_<
Regardless, I really am unsure as to whether I'm going to like this game or not. If it's done well, it should be golden. If not, it'll really easily go to the crapper.

I have faith in you, man!
Don't screw it up, in the name of all that is holy. This could be awesome.

Well, well, given my natural impulse to try to solo everything with my ACU, this will prolly be golden.
Also, about that, I've been doing it lately in Vanilla MCyb2 and both the main gun and the laz0r jammed. Only overcharge left.
Nasty stuff there.
Also, good... Wahtever I should say.

A week ago I wouldn't have known what you were talking about there Isik. Now, now I know exactly what you mean, and man I love those stories...
About the actual game, sounds cool, though I'm not sure if it appeals to me. Though acting as a god and bringing destruction to people a fifth of your size, sounds fun.
And man, it's not called Something New, drats!

I have a few questions Scathis,
1. Is this going to be a Games For Windows Live game?
2. Will the game have replays?

The fact that it seems inspired by DOTA means a lot of people will like it.

There's lots more information coming, I promise.
For now, you'll have to check out the Games for Windows story.

Just one question: Will it use Euphoria (99% sure it wont)?
Would it even be possible? I mean, a game like that with Euphoria would be a killer!

It's this "super realistic" physics engine, that practically gives every object a molecular structure (allowing metal to bend, wood to splinter, etc...) and also gives biological things a nervous system.
If it for some odd reason were used in demigod... I'm afraid you'd need something a lot better than a Geforce8800Ultra to run it though!
(I will always keep on dreaming)

Chances are if he doesn't even know what it is, and he's the lead dev, the answer is 'no'.

I wonder...if we can export the supcom models, could we put supcom units into a Demigod mod? That would be lulz and win.

the game looks awesome!
It's unfortunate that they put the word DotA there, because people will make up their minds right there if they like the game or not, and if not, it will take a shitload of good stuff to convince them otherwise (assuming the game is in their taste to start with).
I've friends that base their opinions on such things. I tried to get them playing WC3 because i know they would like the Tower-Defensemaps and similar. It took like 6 months to convince them, and after that they didn't wanna play any other game. I think we tried every goddamn TD that is out there. We also played the map Battletanks (that is VERY similar to dota) and they loved it. But they still think dota sucks because im good at it and they are not. So they refuse to even try it.
If the game is perfectly within their taste, its still not sure if they'll like it or not because of shitty assumptions like this. And people hate to admit they are wrong, so changing opinion will take a while.
Take this TDA-clan guy that wrote a reply for example. He is so in love with DotA that he thinks this game is an attack on what he like. This game will be a poor crap ripoff that got no clue what DotA is really about. The game is in his taste, but no matter how good it will be, he have already made his mind.

No. Do not speak those words in this forum. And anyway, GPG already has GPGnet; why couldn't they keep using that?

One of the good things is that they have been working on the game for a while and now that its been announced its going to be released in the next 12 months.
This is very good because whatever you show of the game will be near final. They did the same for COD4 and it was only good.

The coolest thing: no "real" singleplayer (other than a training grounds, and probably a skirmish mode). It means more of the content creation can instead go towards making badass maps and refining gameplay.

Usling2, it's funny, O and I looked at a ton of RTS mods a year ago when we started this project and battle tanks is one of the ones we played. It was pretty fun for a while. It's not entirely like DotA but it was fun nonetheless.
