So how is it? Better yet, how is it compared to Mechwarrior Living Legends?
Graphically it looks amazing. I'm not sure I like the feel of the combat though. Of course not having played MW:O I can't say much.
I'm still optimistic for it, but Living Legends has been amazing and I think really captured the feel of a battlefield.

Spent 2 weeks with their support team trying to get over some weird bug that wouldn't let the patcher start. Finally working yesterday.
I love my 3PPA awesome so much it hurts.

Been messing around a bit with some silly builds. Took a CLPT-C1, stripped out everything except the heatsinks and stuck in 3 LPLs. Lulz was had.
Currently it's going at a more sensible 1 LBL, 3 MBLs and 2 SRM-6s, though I've found the SRMs are harder to hit enemies with than anything else in the game.

Mechs I like:
(cant remember their model names)
Traditional Hunchback - that is AC/20 but I took off half a ton of leg armour and upgraded the slaser in the head to a mlaser so its AC/20 + 3 mlasers. You can do heavy mech damage with the compact size of a medium and you have some defence against lights.
Heavy Dragon - Ultra AC/5 (more dps and more accurate than ac/10 but less damage per shot) LRM 10, 4 medium lasers and anti missile system. This mech has some good staying power and you can sit with the missile boats giving long range direct and indirect fire (you can drop some armour and take a gauss rifle if you want) With additional ammo you stay in the fight the entire game too. The problem is you arent specialised for anything but you can do everything. This is like a grunt - basically the design philosophy of the dragon, being the Draconis basic mech for all its combat lances.
Suburban Commando - 2 heavy lasers :3 Just run round being hard to hit, spot targets for the catapults and you can plink at heavier mechs with the lasers then run off when they turn to look at you.
Trollmando/trolljenner - remove errything and replace with flamers. lol
Artillery Catapult - Whereas normal cattys have 2 LRM 15's and some lasers for defence, some people specialised it even further and took the lasers off and put more ammo in. This allows you to chain fire the 2 lrms basically all game so you are never not firing. All you need to do is get close to them and the LRMs wont track.
---------
Current Flavour of the month lolbuilds are
Dual Gauss Catapults over9000 medium pulse Awesome All medium pulse catapult
The swayback (All medium pulse hunchback) was popular for a while but now you can do it with an awesome not many people take it anymore.
The thing about boating with pulses is that they are the best damage for heat and weight cost at the moment. You need to be accurate though and you need good groupings to compensate for the huge amount of heat they generate

I love how one of the terms is that you can't tell anyone you're in the beta, or post it, or anything apparently, top secret! Reminds me of a story of one dude who got fired as he got overheard mentioning to someone he was developing a game (litterally nothing more). He worked at a game development company so, duh? I wouldn't be one to spam screenshots and info and talk about it and so on (or Stream it, rofl Toot ), but as for not even being able to tell anyone you're in it? They can get ******.

My little bro is in too. Just spent two hours watching him cause grief with a gauss fitted 4G Hunchback.

Having enormous amounts of fun with an Awesome 8Q stripped and fitted with an XL 305 engine, 7 medium pulse lasers and as many heat sinks as I could squeeze in. Thinking about maybe upping the engine again and ditching a few heatsinks as I seem to have little trouble with temperature at the moment.
