They would do well to hire some of the Living Legends team.

Well it's got to beat Living Legends, but if it does, it'll be plenty good.

This list looks pretty good so long as they can keep up to those standards, it's too early now to seriously pass judgment but you can't really argue with a free-game involving Giant Mecha, there is no excuse to at least try it. Mike

It all depends on the combat. Sure, I enjoyed MW1 and MW2 back in the day. But as technology moved on I got bored with slow mechs that plod along like tanks.
I played MW tabletop a fair bit in the past. Some mechs had axes and other melee weapons, and skilled pilots were described as piloting "as if it were an extension of their body". In the lore there's clearly much more room for dynamic actions and animations.
Sadly, western mech game designers seem pretty stuck on tank mechs so my hopes are not high.

Looks like they have the mech categories that I recall way back when I played mechwarrior 1.
This might be one of the few free-to-pay games that I actually bother to play.

Yeah, currently it sounds like it will be like MWLL, just on a grander scheme and with more... stuff . You create Mercenary Units and pledge your allegiance to one of the Houses and fight over border planets, at least according to the FAQ. Similar to planetary leagues as they exist now or existed in the past. However, the game is supposed to follow the BattleTech timeline in real time. It's in the current time, just 1037 years in the future. This means, that in August next year, the Clans would appear near the Periphery. It's not known how that will come into play. The FAQ only states Quote: Q. Will the Clans make an appearance or cameo?A. Btw. new Blog post where Bryan Ekman talks about the F2P aspect: http://mwomercs.com/news/2011/11/15-you ... freetoplay

I wanted to play MWLL but the installer hated me so much that I gave up.
Oh well, we will see how it turns out. BattleTech universe can make up for a lot of things. Hopefully they will take the controls from MW3 and not 4. I spend like 15 minutes to reconfigure them till I got something useful in MW4.
PS: I have to pledge allegiance to a house? What if I only want to fight for hard cash. I hope we can go Merc for the highest bidder...

Col. Jessep wrote: I wanted to play MWLL but the installer hated me so much that I gave up. Yeah the installation procedure of MWLL can be atrocious. Just delete everything and start from scratch . If you still have the downloaded archives, it's even better (just unzip them into the correct folder in the correct order after running the basic installer).

A. When you first create your pilot, you are going to have to align yourself with one of the Great Houses in the BattleTech® Universe. Each house will have its benefits and drawbacks and it will be up to you to read up on the house selection menu on which house you will pledge your allegiance. It's a bit counter intuitive, if you are supposed to be a Mercenary Unit. Although there are many units which basically always fought for the same House and acted like an additional unit to its military.

It sucks even more since I'm not sure with which house to align myself. I haven't read that much about the lore. I kind of like the powerful mechs from Steiner but House Liao has some awesome stuff as well.
