I have a problem running Supreme Commander. I haven't gotten any further than the first level. Performance keeps degrading from when I load a game to the point where I according to fraps is getting only 3 FPS after a bit of time. My computer is pretty much the best and I have been able to run it reasonably well on my laptop. So this is quite incomprehensible to me. My specs are:

CPU: Core i7-980x (6x3.33 GHz)
GPU: ATI Radeon 5870 1GB
HD: 2x1.5 TB in RAID 0
RAM: 24 GB
Sound card: Creative Sound Blaster X-fi titanium (running with ALchemy to get EAX)
OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate
Graphics driver: Catalyst 12.4
Game settings: 1920x1080 everything set to max

I think I actually managed to make it work... And it's such a simple thing that I feel kind of stupid for not thinking of it before... Windows XP compatibility mode. VSync off I get a constant 100 FPS and Vsync on it stays on 60 (as expected )

Don't use Alchemy with SupCom because it doesn't really use Directsound in a way that will benefit from it. It uses Microsoft XACT and does sound entirely on the CPU.

There should be no need for Windows compatibility mode. I play SupCom quite often on Win7 and don't use it.
